Seeing more and more of these on the road. Have never seen one up close but the wife (she's a 10 and you all would love pics but not getting them) likes them and it's about time to get her something new.
Anyone have or had one and can provide any insight?
Hi honey!

Sure, my side piece would love it.

If you put stock into such things, they have abysmal Consumer Reports reliability ratings. Much worse than the German or Japanese competitors

Don't have one but they look great.
I like the slightly smaller, sportier one too. Maybe the 70? Not sure but it looks really good.

Problem with consumer reports is their statistical sample. Their audience is heavily skewed towards older people and concentrated in a specific geographic area.
And unfortunately, that audience has shrunken to the point where they struggle to actually get a decent sample size for many very popular products.

We have one, a 2023 GV 80. Great car, amazing interior, better technology than BWM and Mercedes, looks great, no issues.
Nothing bad to say unless you are badge conscious.

How's the room in the second row?
Not badge conscious at all. Would mainly be for her to shuttle kids around town and the occasional weekend road trip.
Prob 10-15k miles per year.

My sister got one whenever they first came out (maybe '20 or 21?) and it was a mixed bag. She loved some of the tech it had that were featured in the German stuff in that class but the BMW and Mercedes were, obviously, significantly more expensive. But a lot of that tech was a buggy mess that didn't work as advertised most of the time. When that stuff didn't work the service department at the dealership was just bad. That could have just been an issue with that particular dealer, but ive heard similar issues with Hyundai service departments before. A software update completely bricked the infotainment one time and had to be wiped and reset.
She did love the way it drove. I never drove it, but the ride was impressively smooth to me. Very quiet too. It had more than enough room for her family of four. Its a good looking SUV imo as well. She said it was a great vehicle if it weren't for the constant bugs with the tech inside.
Like I said, hers was the first model year they were available so maybe some of those issues have been smoothed out by now. But my sister only kept it for a little over a year and decided to move on because it constantly need little fixes here and there with a shitty service dept doing that work.

I agree. I really like the looks of the GV70 and was also curious how they hold up. In line with the poster above, I've always heard it's never a good idea to buy the first model year or the first after a major redesign.

I was out of town for work and rented a midsize car a while back and they were all out, so I got a free upgrade to a GV 80 and I absolutely loved it, drives smoother than anything I’ve ever driven and it’s not even close
Sound system was amazing and there were so many cool little features like ambient lighting with over 100 colors, etc. The heated seats got super hot super fast
I drive a 2017 Honda Accord so I guess I was pretty enamored by all of these features that I don’t have in my own car.

That one is a looker. I prefer the styling for that one over the GV80.

This has been discussed before and consensus was, you would be buying an expensive Hyundai.

Have had two experiences with Kia/hyundai from new. The Hyundai had a lot of issues that left us randomly stranded without the ability to start the car. This occurred multiple times and each time the dealer couldn’t replicate the issue once it was towed in. The Kia only had the issue of the tpms going out randomly and preventing us from seeing our mpg because the warning message took up the screen.

I see them on “cars poor people buy because they want to appear rich” lists all the time.
Seriously

Love the Genesis Vehicles. 160,000 on my 2015 G80 Sedan and have had no issues. Still performs like new and looks great.
Wife, (Pics in other thread) also is jonesing for the GV80
