A total reset of the basketball program is needed w/ 2 exceptions.

I posted this a year ago, but it is needed even more now
Every aspect of the men’s basketball program needs a complete overhaul at the end of the season. LSU basketball has no culture and everything about it feels bland, boring & pathetic right now.
1. Matt McMahon needs to be fired. Nice guy, but his coaching over the past 4 seasons is unacceptable and total apathy has set in for even the most die hard fans. If we rack up more losses this week and next, fire him by the end if January.
2. Everyone on the coaching staff needs to be fired. There is not a single person on the coaching staff doing what they need to do. All have to go. No exceptions.
3. Get plans for a new arena finalized and construction started, but do it right. The new coach can add whatever smaller details once hired if it is not too late.
4. Have a new court and new uniforms for next year. We’ve worn the same geaux font uniforms with few changes for 20 years. We’ve had pretty much the same court for almost as long. Most of those years have been terrible. You can’t change the culture if everything still looks the same.
5. Replace any person associated with marketing, promotions, graphic design, merchandising, video board operation, etc... Every one of them is mediocre to terrible at what they do. Whoever is in charge of working with Nike to put out basketball apparel can be fired as well. Anyone associated with the day to day operations of the program needs to be gone, with two exceptions.
6. The only two people associated with the basketball program who should be retained are John Brady and Kent Lowe. Brady is an excellent radio commentator. Kent Lowe, by all accounts is a great SID.
The entire coaching staff needs to be fired by the end of the SEC tournament. LSU must reach out to agents immediately, whether McMahon is still on staff or not.
Support staff need to be replaced by the end of June.
LSU basketball has been left behind in the SEC and nothing will change unless everything changes. The good thing is that the right coach can turn it around almost immidiatrly.

It’s up to the new coach, but I disagree that some of our former players are part of the problem.
I’d like to see Tasmin Mitchell, Ronald Dupree, & others stick around

I agree with 1, 2, and 5. 4 however, This is the least of their problems. Nothing wrong with the court and god forbid they try to upgrade to the crap being done now with wild colors and graphics everywhere.

All part of creating an entirely new identity of the program.

This will never happen because these people work all the other sports and not just men's basketball.
There is nothing wrong with the video board production. Those guys are actually very good at what they do, from the cameramen to the people directing them from the studio.
And I would be in favor of keeping the old players around if they so choose and if the coach so chooses.
And there is nothing wrong with the court. The women have won a lot of games on it.
But in general, I agree with the gist of your post. Something something drain the swamp.

Multiple times over the past few years during men’s bball games they don’t even have the stats section show up on the video board until midway through the 1st half.
A few times the PMAC staff forgot to turn some of the arena lights back on after a timeout.

Only thing I disagree with… super-renovate the PMAC…team can play in the River Center until it’s done I couldn’t imagine where they would put a new arena

Agree with this as well. The location of the PMAC is great!
They've talked about moving it out by the baseball field in the old golf course, which I think is a terrible idea.

This is true. I don't know who is in charge of that. But I was referring to the quality of the actual video played on the board.

No, no, and HELL no. This is not a viable option and is a terrible idea.

We’ve worn the same geaux font uniforms with few changes for 20 years.

Why exactly???… it’s 10 minutes (w/o traffic) from the PMAC

And they're gross.
Geaux font just looks like shite on a basketball uniform. You need some sort of arc on a bball uniform. Not a giant rectangle.

Great post!
I’d add to keep Tasmin Mitchell. Local guy who pulls a lot of weight with local recruits.
I know we haven’t had many high major players come thru BR/NOLA lately, but the younger classes- SO/FR- are loaded in these areas.

You mean the goofy guy with the mic and coke bottle glasses there for a few years didn’t get the tiny crowd fired up?

The logistics are a nightmare. It just is not feasible to host 12 volleyball matches, 15-17 men's basketball games, 15-17 women's basketball games, and 5-6 gymnastics meets in that shitty building. It would cost LSU a LOT of money. Where will the teams practice? What will they use for locker rooms?
I know people in event management who work at both the PMAC and the River Center and they all say that such an arrangement would be an idea that is beyond awful and almost impossible to pull off.

Remove Temple and Brown from any direct influence within the program. Thanks for the past, however we are going in a different direction (see currently what is happening with the football program).
