While this looks delicious, and I would eat the hell out of it, It is really not a king cake. All these "king cakes" coming out are getting a bit ridiculous. It's just a Muffuletta shaped in an oval. There are sushi king cakes, boudin king cakes, eclair king cakes, and now apparently a Muffuletta king cake. Who were the guys about 10 years back that did a king cake parody videos? They created all kinds of crazy concoctions and i think Muffuletta was one of them.

No, No, No. Just because it's somewhat shaped like a King Cake doesn't make it a King Cake. When all is said and done, it's just an oval shaped Muffuletta.
And no sign of Olive Salad in that pic. If it doesn't have Olive Salad, it's just another cold cut sandwich.

I stand corrected, but that is some weak-assed olive salad that looks to be mostly pimento from what is pictured.

I agree the "king cakes" have jumped the shark. Too many boudin king cakes and odd flavored king cakes. I want a traditional king cake 90% of the time and maybe throw in a flavored cake 10% of the time for fun.
However...it seems like Anthony's is a local place trying to have fun with a product they already have (muffuletta). I like it.
