Though the federal government’s Department of Government Efficiency has been largely disbanded, a Louisiana state version, dubbed "LA DOGE," has pushed on and, according to an official report, is set to garner $1 billion in annual tax dollar savings.
quote:
LA DOGE will achieve $999.5 million in annual cost savings of both federal and state tax dollars across 17 state departments, according to a report by Republican Gov. Jeff Landry’s office reviewed by Fox News Digital. The report posits that these savings will be achieved "without any reductions in service."
quote:
LA DOGE was established by an executive order signed by Landry in December 2024 as the Louisiana Fiscal Responsibility Program. Similar to Elon Musk’s vision for the federal DOGE, the Louisiana version was set up with the intent to eliminate wasteful spending, improve government efficiency and modernize government operations.

1Bn seems pretty significant for Louisiana.
So this begs the question; How did it get that high and who is getting the savings from it?

Somebody was benefitting substantially. Who is it? If there is no effect on services, where was it going?

That's an interesting start to that article:

Why can’t people just be happy when something positive happens?
There’s $1B in savings in state government and people now complain about where did it go?, etc.
Nothing gets done? People complain.
Something like this gets done ? People still complain.
Geez. People cant be happy or positive about anything these days.

“set to garner $1 billion in annual tax dollar savings” this is a crock of shite, just like Landry! If this is the case then why doesn’t Landry cut the sales taxes or income taxes? I’ll answer my own question, because he’s a lying POS.

It’s not all the way done until those savings manifest into tax reductions.
But I’m happy about the good news.

Is there a website and a list?
1 billion is a good start.
1 billion is a good start.

For Fiscal Year 2026, Louisiana's total state spending is budgeted at $53.51 billion, with the General Fund at $12.21 billion, primarily funded by taxes (income, sales) and significant federal aid, with major spending categories being healthcare, education, and public safety, showing health/welfare as the largest overall expenditure when federal funds are included.
$1 Billion saved is indeed, good news if true. But it’s only about 2% of the annual budget. Yearly fluctuations due to oil and gas revenue income is greater than that. The good news is that we’ve been replenishing the rainy day fund after many years of borrowing from it during Covid b/s.

The $1B in potential savings is just the payoff for keeping the other $10BN buried.

Very happy the savings was found. However, if the original funding was illegal, may the punishment be very public and severe.

Because, Louisiana

Because I’m doubtful something positive happened. Let’s see the new budget and how much was actually saved by the state. If it’s not at least a $200 million savings then it’s bullshite.

Well there was millions found in waste...is it really that ridiculous to ask what is now being done with the money now that its not being wasted... like isnt the whole point?
