Long time bass fishing guy used to open face reels. Looking for suggestions on spinning rods and reels for redfishing. Im not planning on going after bull reds, but its not uncommon to hook up to 35+ inch.

Budget?
Can't go wrong with Shimano Stradic 2500 and a good medium rod. That reel can last a lifetime if cared for.
I haven't bought a good saltwater rod in a a couple years but I have been using Falcon Coastal rods that have been very dependable for a good price.

You didn't specify a budget so I'll say:
Bulls Bay Assault 7'6"MH paired with a Shimano Stradic 3000
ETA: Probably all in at about $500 but if cared for will last a lifetime.

I'm a 4000 size reel guy. Same weight as above, better drag and more retrieve per revolution.

I use baitcasting reels all the time for redfish throwing spoons, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits. Etc…. Your bass stuff should work fine for this

I use spinning rods/reels if fishing bait under a cork or on the bottom for reds. Standard 7ft medium power - fast action works well. 3000 size spinning reel. Spool with 30lb braid. Gear choice will depend on budget. Basic is fine for fishing bait.

Where do you live ? I have some spinning reels I no longer use . I have used them for trout and redfish .

This is me also. I grew up bass fishing and I will always use an open face reel unless using a cork. I prefer to use open face to tight line or throw any spinner/swim bait regardless of target species.

Why not just use a baitcaster if that’s what you use to. I fish specks and reds with Lew’s super duty 300’s and a older model Lew’s inshore speed spool’s all on med-fast 7’ St Croix or med/hvy-fast 7’ Dobyn’s rods and I have one med/lite-fast rod for throwing lite lures.

Daiwa BG and Shimano Stradic are bulletproof.
I have a falcon Coastal XD 7'6 M i really love.
Also use a Daiwa Procyon 7'6 ML for trout mainly.
And a Waterloo 7' M for popping corks.

You can buy a Quantum Strive Spinning combo at Basspro for about $160; this is a great value.

Unless you just want to buy new gear (which I would never discourage) your bass setups will probably work fine for redfish as long as you have something in at least a 2500 and a medium power rod. If nothing else using your current gear will let you know what you want to change for inshore.
