Any of you guys into carpet stretching?

Our upstairs is carpet and still in good shape but it’s floppy in some areas I guess from heavy stuff being on it. I’ve heard about carpet stretching to get it back tight.
Is that something people can do themselves? How much does that sort of thing run if I had someone do it?

its best done with pole stretchers and not knee kickers but people can do a halfway job with a kicker. It was probably done with a kicker when installed and why you now need to have it re-stretched.
You can attempt to rent the tools and try you luck with some youtube vidoes. Generally it is best left to the methhead professionals though.

Helped a buddy do it a long time ago but it was pretty simple. Before you start kneeing the stretcher make sure your edge tacks are still good. They could have potentially bent allowing the carpet to bunch.

What companies in the Baton Rouge area do this?

Definitely the above. Stretching is often done when a house is about to be put up for sale. Typically, it will sag again soon. If all you really need is to fluff pile that has been compressed try one of the steam cleaners like Stanley 1st.

We had a room that needed it. A carpet crew was working at another house on our street, and I asked the guys if they would come do a quick cash job when they were through. Everybody was happy.

I hope that doesn’t mean what I think it does.
