Why is it a thing to have all black uniforms even when black isn't one of the school colors? This only started to be a thing in the last 10 years or so.

I guess the funny part is that aside from Ohio State and Miami, most of the blue blood programs don't do it. It's mostly the schools that suck haha.

you must be young. Black jerseys were a huge fad in the late 90s through the earl 2000s

Thankfully its generally for programs that are lost and need to generate buzz, like Nebraska.

I couldn't imagine, USC (doesn't do any alternates) or Notre Dame or Michigan...

Some guy simulated how horrible it would look:

Notre Dame and Michigan may not wear black jerseys but they have worn plenty of alternates, especially Notre Dame

It has started to become more en vogue again, but it'll eventually fall out of fashion like before. Then we can have this thread again in about 20 years when it comes back.

If it's not your school colors, you shouldn't wear it.

Other than their greens, Notre Dame may have the worst "alternates" ever.

LSU broke out some blacks in late 90's. At first I didn't like them but they grew on me.

the black hat became a favorite of mine (made by Top of the World)

Think maybe the Bulls wore black because it's one of their colors?

Think maybe Georgia's colors being red and black might have anything to do with them wearing those black jerseys?

what difference does it really make? Neither of those programs had ever worn black jerseys/uniforms. For instance, purple is one of LSU's colors, but if they came out in an all purple football uniform, it would look every bit as random as the baseball team wearing a black jersey in the late 90s through early 2000s because it's not their traditional look.

The Bulls wearing a red/black pinstripe uniform was peak late 90s "does it come in black." I don't really care if black is one of their colors.

Regardless, I showed about 10 other examples (of which there are many more) of teams that don't have black in their color schemes yet chose to adopt a black uniform because of the fad of it

I think the monochrome craze in college baseball is worse.

Seeing Ole Miss in full baby blue is disgusting. Kent State did it last night vs LSU.

Awful.

yeah the baby blue baseball uniforms have jumped the shark for sure. I realize some of the MLB uniforms are throwbacks but it's getting out of hand. And the schools/teams where baby blue isn't your color, just stop

The Rangers all baby blue may be the worst of them all.

Everything about the Rangers is overly irritating to me. The uniforms, the stadium, etc.

They were so fun 10-15 years ago at the Ballpark in Arlington with more classic style uniforms.

Such an odd choice of pics. Some, I assume, are complete money grabs, like IU and UA, but several of those are teams that have used baby blue for a decades.
