There is something about a Shake and Bake pork chop with a side of fake mashed potatoes and can corn that is very comforting and reminds me of childhood. I make it before a long road trip because I don’t have to worry about intestinal issues the next day.

I used to make those Chef Boyardee pizzas for my kids when they were little and they said that they loved them.
Made one a few weeks ago for a kids birthday party for snacks and my kids told me that they hated those things for years.

I have eaten or recognize all of those with the exception of the meat in the can. Not Spam. What is it?

I try to avoid as much processed food as possible, so none of it.

Just canned pork I think. There's a variety of canned meats that opened like that, that aren't spam brand.

Modern Gorton's is much higher quality than what we called fish sticks in the 80's.

The only things we bought were Minute Mate orange juice, Bama strawberry preserves and fish sticks. We had a party a couple of years ago, everyone had to bring a food from to 60's, my fish sticks were the first thing to disappear.
I grew up in a SAHM household, processed foods were an expensive luxury, I did love Vienna sausage my dad bought when we went fishing..

The only one of that lot that's been in my house in the last year is Cool Whip and it wasn't me who bought it but my wife.
She wanted to make strawberry shortcakes and wanted to top them off with Cool Whip and a whole strawberry.
She made a dozen or so of them one time and we wound up throwing what was left in the container out.

I remember all the skyscreaming about butter, and my Mom dutifully switched over to margarine. There’s a special place in Hell for the ones responsible for pushing that shite on the world.
TV Dinners were a special treat, we could pick one out every few months or so. Fried chicken and Salisbury steak were always the top 2. Vienna sausages and potted meat were fishing trip staples. Just don’t put the Vinnies in the icechest, the gelatin would congeal and look like your sinuses had been emptied in the can.
