And prevented a mass shooting at an elementary school.
How would you feel about it if you found out that these services had you (and everyone else) under surveillance and had created algorithms to alert law enforcement if it suspected someone were on the verge of carrying out some form of mass casualty?

Very conflicted, honestly.

Doesn't the FBI already do this? But then don't act upon their findings, and the person shoots up the school anyway?

If it was limited to serious crimes, I wouldn't think about it on a day to.day basis. Inevitably it would start enforcing non violent or petty crimes like littering, so I choose not to open that door if I have a choice.

There has never been an instance in human history where a rule stays limited to one thing. Ever. So I'm with you, kinda tough to open that door because someone 10 years from now will say the sky told them to open it more.

True. They'll never make a mistake. They are the government and my ruler. Amen.

I'd say good let's crucify that bastard and then dismantle that particular AI ... give it the death penalty as well.
ie: Two wrongs aren't two negatives which can cancel each other out and somehow make it right. And we have surveillance laws for a very good reason.

No, this is, at best, a double edged sword. I'd go as far as calling it a poison pill since we already have plenty of instances of "thought police" in recorded history

There's a Fox News report that said some people had checked Savannah Guthrie's salary checked Zillow's site for Nancy's home.
Google denies it but the talking heads say the spooks has the information.

You would be naive to think that social media isn't constantly being monitored.
The rise of Facebook and it's usage was the beginning of the end

They do that either way. I'd rather have more info to prove my innocence
