Bryson tried to break the course record at my home course yesterday.

I showed up for a nine hole scramble and walked up to the range and a guy was walking off and someone was filming him. I thought "Omg why is this loser being filmed." It's a bougie course and the high school kids these days all bring launch monitors to the range and record themselves and proceed to go out and shoot 90. So I just write it off as one of those goobers.
20 minutes later a girl comes over all excited asking if I saw Bryson. He came out to try and break the course record.
On the range the net is about 300 yards down and the net itself is at least 50 feet high. He was bombing them over the net. A guy tells him that he's probably hitting them on #10 green behind the rang so he says "Ok watch this." Proceeds to tee it down and rip a ball into the net that never got 10 feet off the ground like it was on a rope.
After the round he hung out and answered questions from the kids and signed autographs and took pictures. Seemed like a really cool guy.
Was a really bad day to try and break the record (61), it was 15-20 mph gusts and got pretty cold by the end of the day. No way he broke it. Surprised he didn't have at least one member ride along with them because he missed out on some tips. We saw him bogey #2, a par 5. One rule of thumb is you never go long on your approach because your dead if you do. Of course he goes long.
I've tried to say on here that Texarkana CC is the best course in Arkansas and he said it after his round was over. Said it is a great Augusta prep course. Hence the Little Augusta nickname it has.
Anybody know about how long after he films that he releases his videos? I've never watched one but will obviously tune in to this one. There's some holes on the back nine I'd really like to see how he plays them.

You may have been the one I talked to about it a while back but I got to play TCC in 2024 with a member and it was awesome. It was an August afternoon on a Friday and I think we were the only two out on the course. The fairways were pristine. Greens were crazy fast. It was the nicest place I have played at.

That’s pretty cool
I think he’s tried this 8 times on YouTube & he’s only got the record once.

Nice! Glad you liked it. And yes, lush fairways and fast greens. I normally just play in tennis shoes because you don't need much extra grip.
It's definitely my happy place. I love how quiet and relaxed it is. Usually very few people on the course.
Let me know if you ever want to go back and the other member is tied up.

Nothing wrong with trying to improve your game, I should probably try them out.
It more just aggravates me because it's high schoolers. When I was in high school man I was just glad to have a complete set. These kids out here get fitted for a new set every year.
Was on the range one day and one kid was recording himself and looking at the launch monitor and was on the phone with his coach telling him the numbers after every shot. When the kid was done on the range he asked him if he could come walk 18 holes with him. I felt like I was in some alternate universe. Like does this kids parents pay this coach full time? I didn't see the kids short game but based on the range there was no way he was breaking 80. Like does this kid really need a coach on retainer? Might be better for the kid to stop lessons if anything.

Really wish he would have just played in the scramble with us

Haven't watched any of the others and I don't know if he goes into all of them blind but not even factoring in the weather, it was a disservice not having someone with knowledge of the course there with him.
I found out yesterday that Brandel Chamblee held the course record with a 63 for a while. Thankfully someone broke that.

Awesome experience for you and your club.
I never forget standing next to the first tee at the Woodlands TPC and John Daly ripped a drive.
I have never heard a golf ball make that sound since. Not even Tiger.

I will say I hit the Rapsodo MLM 2 Pro. And the camera playback has been really beneficial. I can watch bad swing and compare to better shots. The impact camera is a slow mo cam that shows that club face at impact which is cool. I’ve noticed I tend over rotate John Daly style and I’m not him so I work on not doing that. I’ve enjoyed using it, now to me I look awkward AF watching myself swing.

Yeah, not sure on that one.. I’ll video my daughters swing if she’s between lessons and shoot a text of the vids to her coach and he’ll send me back the things he sees… But she’s not doing full on video lessons plus watching for an 18 hole walking session. That’s crazy

Agreed. Happy for the club.
I have never been to a pro event. Seen numerous pros play but never seen someone bomb it to this extent up close and personal. Was cool to see. Probably pretty similar to seeing Daly in his prime.
Forgot to mention in the OP but he said he is trying to get Tiger to do a "Break 50" with him. I've only watched a couple holes of Break 50 when he did one with Curry but him and Tier doing one would be pretty awesome.

Wish i knew how to post a vid.
Buddy of mine gave him the honk at the top. Well done.
TC is pretty good. There’s several in Arkansas better and not where you gotta be strapped.

Nearly killed a lady at the kids clinic they did at the Texarkana Open. Daly was there and my dad sprung me from school to see him. 89-90? Hogan tour.
Still had Jr clubs - hogan radials. JD said loosen grip. There it went behind me almost hit a lady and then a car. Good times.

Grew up at TCC before my old man had to move to BR for work. Can not appreciate more for that club raising me during the summer, super spoiled.

During his backswing? What's his name? I probably know him if he's a member

Diamonte is maybe better but you gotta be strapped there too. Mystic Creek has nice conditions but crowded, bad practice facility, and way too many clown holes. Very nice for a public course though, I'm just not a fan because of the clown holes.

The Alotian club says hello, even though none of us will ever get to play it!

O man yea forgot about that. They are supposedly like Masters type exclusive. I would imagine more expensive too.

It's owned by the Stevens who basically own Little Rock in a sense and is invite only. I know a guy who runs their private jet operations so I may have an in!
