Will AI help curb the Hb1 visa fiasco?

Or at least slow it down alot? Much of what is being imported from india is programmers. Companies use the visa to avoid paying American citizens. Both Trump and Musk praise and use the visa for cheap workers. They will never slow it down and have said so publicly. No republican or democrat will. That is the cold hard truth.
The only thing that will is something cheaper. And that would be our boogeyman AI.
Who might just turn out to be our dear friend in the long run.
A silver lining in all this uncertainty would be less importation of workers. While cheaper, they still cost alot of money.
And because it is all about money, companies will gleefully end their visa abuse as long as AI can do the job more cheaply.

How would AI eliminating programming jobs "help" the visa fiasco?
The intent was to onshore jobs for Americans not eliminate them entirely.

It will definitely end the import of low talent SW people from India.
The High Talent ones will still come here.

AI also makes outsourcing easier. They don't need visas for that. The pieces of a workflow that can't be fully automated that require human touch can just be outsourced to workers in their own countries for pennies
This is shockingly naive

In a righteous world, every H1b would be sent back to their home country. They go first... so we can hire entry level grads to tutor under senior staff, for succession planning.
We don't live in that world; it hasn't stopped Microsoft and others from wanting to increase visa limits.
