My Fishing Repote

Everyone backed out today so I didn’t hook the boat up until high noon.
Went to turn perko on and it wasn’t turned off from last Saturday and battery was dead.
Put the charger on and waited an hour before trying it and I had ignition.
Since nobody wanted to be my Fran today I took the dog on her first fishing trip. Figured a ziplock with treats might help things and off we went to Prien lake park.
First drift on the west 210 flat produced a keeper and one short on a blue moon dsl 1/4 jighead. Second drift another keeper and two shorts. Third drift two keepers and one short. Third drift I got cute with a keeper and it came off coming over the gunnel.
We tried a spot in old river without success and the dog was ready to clean our meager box.
Trout were all glued to the bottom and with a better crew we would’ve done better. Not calling anyone out but you know who you are

The worst day of fishing is better than the best day at work, man!

I went to my land and worked on cleaning up from the ice storm.
I was very fortunate that I didn’t have more damage than I did but there is still a lot.
I have 3 huge oak trees that lost a lot of very big limbs. The biggest I had to make two cuts with a 20” bar on my chainsaw. The tree it fell from is probably 4’ in diameter.
Anyway, worked on that for a while and then walked down to the shallow end on my lake.
I was catching fish on pretty much every cast didn’t catch. All bass and nothing huge but decent fish.
Probably caught close to 100. It was a lot of fun.
Now I need to go buy some more lures. As I was using 6lbs test in a lot of stumps and broke off several.

Hey, a day in big lake is better than work, unless the boat breaks down and you have to get towed in.
We may be down there next week. I got out a few times here in central TX but fishing is tough, whites aren't really up in the creeks yet, and crappie are also in transition.
Next week I think conditions are there for a beat down in the creeks. I love catching crappie in the shallow water.
