Subscription required on that one.

From screen rant:

quote:

Game of Thrones' first-ever movie is in development for a legendary Targaryen era despite a similar television series making progress.

According to The Wrap, Warner Bros. has a Game of Thrones movie in development about Aegon's Conquest and has enlisted Beau Willimon (House of Cards, Andor) as writer, who has already submitted an initial draft, conflicting with HBO's Aegon's Conquest series that is also currently in development by writer Mattson Tomlin.

More to come...

Wish House of the Dragon would have started with Aegons conquest. Personally my favorite part of that book.

Robert's Rebellion series

For some reason HBO keeps leaning into the Targaryen lore and not the other areas.

Seeing Robert crushing people with a warhammer sounds like some amazing TV.

Aegons conquest is so much more tailored to a series.

GOT anything just feels like it belongs in a series. I may be wrong but I just have a hard time picturing the fleshing out of characters and storylines that made us all fall in love with the show being done well in a 2-3 hour movie format.

You could do Robert’s Rebellion in a 3-4 episode mini series

Unless they change the story a bit, I don't see how it works in either. There's not a ton of conflict involved. Dragons > humans. Now, if they did a series on the Targs trying to conquer Dorne multiple times, that could be interesting.

I'm just not sure there's enough to make it interesting for an entire movie.

And what's you ending? Guy torches armies, takes over the country and marries his sisters? Wow, what a hero's journey.

I was about to say this. Other than drama in Dorne, I'm not really sure this does anything other than provide content for fans. And for that reason, I'm sure I'll be watching.
