The key to ending this hitting slump...

is Derek Curiel. Last year, he was our most consistent and clutch hitter. When the alpha struggles, the rest of the pack follows.
Curiel may be pressing a little due to this being his contract year or he may miss Stanny in the lineup.
Whatever it is, he will figure it out and lead the way for the rest of the team.

After reading the subject line I thought we were about to see a herd of chicks at Mr Gatti’s.

Curiel really doesn’t put off alpha vibes.

…is fewer pop ups and more line drives. They’re making consistent contact, but they’re popping almost all of them up.

Anyone who goes to that extreme better win the triple crown for their troubles.

I do kind of agree. Like I’ve said a few times the past few days, I’m kinda obsessed with the lengthening of lineups. And the apparent lack of power with team is going to make it slightly “less long” even at its peak. I think it has a lower ceiling than any of Jay’s previous teams. Steven Milam hitting right in the middle of it every day is somewhat proof of that. I’ll say it again, the less 3-run bombs you hit—or even have the potential to hit—the way more “that’s just baseball” games you’re going to find yourself in.
But Derek Curiel, when he gets going—and he will—will help lengthen it considerably, whether he’s leading off or in the 2-hole. I’m not blaming him—every player has a right to “slump” or not be at their best—but this particular lineup can’t be long enough to be dominant if he’s not hitting. I think Jay built this team, in part, assuming Curiel was going to make the jump to a .365 10+ homer guy. And he still very well may be. But I think he’s more likely a year away from that (if he comes back, and like Lester, I’m not 100% sure he doesn’t).

Milam hasn't been any better.
