Can't see this lasting long or the site if it's all paywalled now. Who needs a $10/mo sub for TV and gadget reviews? Most people use it one time before buying and never again.

Who needs tv ratings at all? You walk by the big sale islands every time you go to Walmart and if your TV ever breaks(not sure that’s possible), you pick one up. They have a bunch on the back wall if you need to look at them.

Who under the age of 50 doesn't do research before a big purchase?

Also display units on demo mode are terrible in store.

Lol good luck. I'm sure the Internet won't be able to find good TVs now.

Yeah it's honestly a head scratcher. The traffic they did have will be gone and no one is going to sub instead with alternatives for free. Was a helluva run.

I feel like everyone has looked at lots of screens. They look like screens. Some might get a little more glare than others.

Some tech requires research. Zigbee can be a nightmare if not implemented correctly or perfect with solid routing devices and Sengled-only bulbs. Surveillance is worthy of a deep dive because it may be years or never at all before evidence is really needed and the work to ensure that must be done ahead of time. A TV is a TV though.

This is strange and I agree with you that it's going to make RTINGS useless to the common user.

It was the leader for stuff like this so someone will jump in and grab this market share pretty quickly, IMO.

if you get into things like color accuracy, interpolation, reverse pulldown, viewing angles, etc. rtings is very useful.

Thankfully there are even better places like HDTV on youtube where they directly compare different TVs to each other so you can straight up see with your own eyes the differences.

Solid Website, but head scratcher move.

There are too many free ways to get feedback on products, or enough of it to make a decision, that paid stuff doesn't make sense.

It made sense with Consumer reports for awhile, pre-internet. But now? It doesn't. Find another way to bring in the revenue, subscription is not it.

As someone who does buy quite a bit of tech and does do a lot of research - I'd never pay for a subscription. Especially now that AI can essentially cobble together a general purpose analysis of a product with minimal effort.

Someon can easily swoop in on this market, and find a revenue generator.

MS and Google are already approaching companies discussing ways to get their products on AI’s good side, for a price.
