Retro Gaming (Emulators)

I see all these adds on Facebook and etc for retro gaming systems that supposedly have a plethora of old video games through emulators. Are any of these sellers actually legit that are not scammers?

ETA: There are a million different ways to play older games via emulation, but so many of them aren't worth your money, RGC lays all the information out for you in a very easy to digest format.
I've been doing my retro gaming on the AYN Odin 2 Portal for the last 5 months and it's AMAZING, but everyone is different with what they need.

Honestly - AYN and Retroid are the way to go, but they are also pricey. They are 100% worth it, but Anbernic is an ok alternative if you don't want to spend a lot of money... though I find Anbernic and other cheaper options to be very hit or miss, my 7 year old loves his Anbernic Gameboy Advanced Flip device (but he still plays his Switch more, probably because of reliability).

I bought one off of TikTok a few months ago that ran off of FireStick type deal and it had a lot of games but I was mostly looking for Chrono Trigger. It worked and I could play Chrono Trigger but saving was a pain in the arse. I dropped the included controller one time and it busted one of the bumpers which rendered it useless. Now it will collect dust.
Side note: I ended up playing Chrono Trigger on Steam, it's a good version.

I've bought several preconfigured systems with roms from folks on Etsy and Ebay and they all worked flawlessly. the Kinhank systems you see on Amazon are hit or miss. Some work fine out of the box, others run like shite.
Here is one on ETsy from a seller I've bought from in the past. I have the same PS1 classic for about 4 years now and it runs fine.

Its limited as far as what emulators it can run (nothing beyond PS1/ N64 era ) and does not have analog sticks. Its pricey for what it is but if you dont have the time or skills to make your own it may be worth it.

I think there's little reason not to make your own. You can use a lot of different things, depending on what systems you want to be able to emulate.
You can use a lot of different things (Rasberry Pi, mini-PC, old desktop PC, old laptop,etc). Install something like Retroarch or Batocera and have fun.
