Thinking about doing a ski in/ski out stay at one of the hotels in Park City, Utah next year.

We love doing this in Aspen and Snowmass, but I'm leaning towards PC bc of the easy non stop flights. What are ya'lls thoughts on Park City?

Love Park City. Short 45 minute drive from SLC. You can basically ski right into downtown. No Name Saloon and High West are great. The skiing is also awesome. No real great breweries in town (though there are one or two) but the liquor laws are strict.

Any hotel recs? We were looking at some of them in Canyons Village. Looks like there is also Park City Mountain Base and Deer Valley.

If you won't have young kids with you, I'd stay at the Town Lift Condos, LINK They are also listed on VRBO/AirBnB, etc. You can avoid the crowds at the base, ski directly back to the town Lift at the end of the day, and be on Main St. for the evenings. It's extremely convenient, but requires you to ski down from the top of the town lift if you have kids needing ski school.

If you will have kids, or just want to be near the main base area, then there are several condos and lofts at the PC base. I prefer Park CIty to the Canyons, which offers much more ski lodges and larger homes.

The Canyons has good tree skiing and other off trail type terrain, but if you're looking for the more traditional long runs, I like PC better. I always feel like I'm just skiing to get somewhere in the Canyons, as opposed to just enjoying the runs. I also prefer the base area and Main St area in PC. The Canyons has some beautiful ski in/out homes on the mountain, but they're priced accordingly and not convenient to the base or town. Maybe if I were going with a large group that could all afford a grand ski lodge home on the mountain and we were planning to cook meals most nights in the house, then I could get behind The Canyons. If you want a convenient ski in/out hotel/condo in walking distance to Main St, I'd recommend Park City. You can always take the Gondola across to ski The Canyons one day, or vice versa.

I'm way more Partial to Canyons, the Apres scene at The Pendry is incredible. Nothing like it on main Street and you'd have to go to the St Regis at Deer Valley to come close. The umblrella bar at Canyons is great too and because the mounatin village side is more commuters and parkers, they get less Apres and more nightlife.

The Red Pine Condominiums and Red Pine Chalets offer one, two and three bedroom options on VRBO on the Canyons side and can be found for a pretty decent rate. We just booked a week in 2027 for a two bedroom with a loft and it was just under $3100 for 7 nights and while it won't win any awards, its more than sufficient.. We have been staying in the Red Pine for years and it's one of the best values in Park City in our opinion. VRBO

There is a free internal shuttle (order like Uber) that brings you anywhere you want to go inside of the canyons village and you can ski right down to the base of the Sunrise Gondola and be less than 40 steps to get picked up from a shuttle or head right to Apres at Das Olas.

On Main Street, you'll get a better Old Fashioned at the Pink Pony Club (Kemo Sabe speakeasy) then you will at High West even though they use High West Bourye. But Main Street is fun for maybe one night.

The Spur has a back bar that can be alot of fun, dueling pianos, live music, DJs, etc.

How is the snow and how late in the season do the slopes stay open?

Right now, it's fantastic. But it's been a horrible year. According to the "experts", next year should be cooler especially early in the year so it should help the base early on which is good for the entire season.

Closing date for the season is generally in April but depends on snow. March is normally the wettest year for the Wasatch so if it's cold, they will get snow and stay open later. If it its not, the precipitation will be rain, help melt the snow and they may be open for golf in April.

It’s a shame that there isn’t more resorts set up like this. The only knock I have against Park City is the crowds, but it’s hard to blame them. If DIA were on the other side of Denver then Breck/Keystone/Copper would spread them out more evenly

Correct. Not feasible given the layout, but if they were building the city from scratch and asked me where I wanted the airport to be, I’d say put it near the mountains and stretch the city east.
