How handy would Bagram Airbase be right now?

I have not heard anyone mention this so far since combat action began in Iran. If we still had it then Iran would have to defend from 2 directions instead of just one. The disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal is still having consequences even now. The Biden Administration is the gift that keeps on giving just like herpes.

Another reason why Trump wanted to get it back. Location, location, location.

Yeah it was the only part of Afghanistan worth anything and Biden and his merry band of morons pissed it away.

The “Moderates” on this board wailing about Iran want to totally memory-hole August 2021.

We spent 20 years in that shithole spending blood and treasure only to give up the only thing of any value in the whole country. Still makes me mad.

That is an understatement.
Those dumbfricks thought “We won’t have enough troops for an embassy and an air base” and shitcanned the air base overnight.

Probably because Trump signed the deal with the Taliban to withdraw from the base. Trump is the one who gave it away. Biden is the one who turned out the light with a bang.

I highly doubt even if the election wasn’t stolen that we have Bagram. We just wouldn’t have had the disastrous pull out

Trump has said for years that he was keeping Bagram. It is located close to Iran and China. He has stated many times since Biden flat gave it away that he had planned on keeping it.

Like it or not, and despite whatever Trump said for years… he was responsible for the Doha deal. Biden would’ve had to break the deal and send troops back in to keep Bagram.

Didn't trump 45 have a plan to pull out of Afghanistan? I don't recall trump's plan to pull completely out except for bagram.

I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this, but Trump is talking out his arse for political gain.
Trump signed the deal to surrender the base.
Trump gave it away.

The Biden Administration would break any deal and ignore any law they wanted as long as it met some far left goal that undermined the country. I think the talk at the time was to keep Bagram and it would take around 2,500 troops to defend it if my memory serves me right. Instead we gave a bunch of terrorists the only thing in all of Afghanistan worth anything and then sweetened the pot by leaving some of the best military hardware on the planet there for them to use or sell.

I am not sure what you aren’t comprehending here. It’s like your brain won’t allow you to process the information that multiple people are giving you. Information which is verifiable through any number of sources.
Doha deal.
Doha deal.

It's well known that Biden was executing a strategy that Trump put into place which is common precedence of how presidential transitions happen. People tend to enforce agreements made by their predecessors whether they agree with them or not. It allows us to have some continuity instead of hitting the reset button every 4 or 8 years. The execution is certainly worthy of criticism. Acting like it wasn't Trump's deal is an absurdity.

The execution is absolutely worthy of criticism, but if we are specifically talking about Bagram Base that’s on Trump.
Because it was part of the agreement and not some unplanned operational failing. We would have had to explicitly violate the agreement. Basically would have been redeclaration of war lol.

Nah, that’s no “fact” that I’ve ever heard or seen. Show the receipts.

The damn Taliban had not shot at an American at that point in like 12 to 18 months. Yes we were pulling out but we were keeping Bagram along with enough soldiers to defend it. American contractors were supposed to help the Afghans keep up an Air Force to help them fight the Taliban. Instead after Biden was elected the Taliban went back on the march and instead of putting up a fight most of the ANA dropped their rifles and ran offering very little resistance. Thats how the Taliban moved so fast. It was the Biden Administration that stepped on their dicks not Trump. Had Trump won the 2020 election it was always in the cards to keep Bagram.
