if it makes you feel better during the apollo missions the procedure for crapping in the command module was a plastic bag with a cardboard collar on the opening of the the bag coated with adhesive. you would press that bag onto opening of your buttocks and poop into the bag. since your bowels don't work properly in space, you would then take your index and fore finger place them up through the bottom of the bag into your anus and scoop out the remaining poop, remove the adhesive collar tie the bag up and eject into space.
