Why do so many of our pitchers throw pitches that aren't even competitive pitches?

Im talking balls 2 feet of the plate that the catcher has to dive for. Balls in dirt. Balls that as soon as they leave the pitchers hand you know will be no where near the strike zone. I have never seen so many of our pitchers throw like this. Its terrible.

I’m not a pitching coach so I’m not sure

Rizzy obviously wasn’t feeling it today. Should have pulled him on the first mound visit.

Most guys arrive here having one good pitch, usually a fastball, and maybe a second ok pitch. If they want to play professional ball they need three, really four, solid pitches.
Yeskie is a pitch developer. He gets guys to add a second, third, fourth good pitch.
The only way you can do that is by throwing those pitches in live action. Learning any new skill is going to be rough at first, and some guys will never get it,
