My son (autistic so we dont let him open the door for people) texted me today when I was on my charter trip. Said someone was cleaning the pool. Problem is, I have never paid anyone to clean my pool. Ever. So when I got home, I checked my video and this is the "cleaning".. I can just assume they were at the wrong house. At first I thought maybe they were scoping out the place but I dont think that was the case. Now I am very OCD about keeping my pool clean and the chemicals balanced but damn, they were out there 2 mins and 40 seconds. Barely scooped the pool, no chemicals, hell no water test. I guess it looked good enough to pass over.

Imagine paying $150 a month for this

You keep your pool clean. Is that screened in so leaves can't fall in it?

The pool cage does a lot of things. Keeps the leaves out, keeps the bugs out and the critters for the most part.

When I moved here, I thought I would totally hate having a cage around my pool. None where I came from. After being here a while and living in two different homes with them, there is no way I would have a pool here without one. I can sit out there all night, every night and never get bitten by anything. We have some pretty active parties out there as well. No bites. If you step out of that pool cage at night, the mosquitos here will light your arse up

Yeah that is a different world of pool cleaning, caged versus not. I clean my own pool (not caged) but it is a hell of a lot more work than they were doing several times a week with all the leaves. So I can understand someone hiring somebody to do that.

You don't have anything to clean haha

When I first moved into my house with my first pool, we hired a company called clear pool or always clear or Crystal clear, something like that, who promised to live up to their name with no effort on my part

After a few months with the pool always green, and getting settled in well enough to start paying attention, I noticed that the guy would come by twice a week carrying two five gallon buckets of " chemicals". He would do a quick five drop pH and chlorine test, dump both buckets in, and leave.

I installed a saltwater generator and I've been keeping it myself ever since

It takes me 45mins to a hour to clean my pool every week. What they did was just criminal if someone was paying them.

I use a scrub brush and clean all the sides, steps and water feature in the pool and the spa. Then I use my vacuum to vacuum the bottom of the pool and spa. We get a lot of sand in our pool from the air and from the pavers.

After that, I test the water and add chemicals when needed (salt water pool), then I clean the cartridge filter once a month.

It may be in a cage but I have tons of plants and trees inside that trash it. I run my pool robot about two or three times a week. You can see that it is in the pool and they didnt even take it out or move it.

I would fire those dudes in about 5 mins

I pay a guy $150 a month. He cleans, backwashes, adds whatever is needed, maintains equipment, and does any repairs. He spends 20-30 minutes a week average on my pool. After a storm 30-45 minutes.

Totally worth it.

Like I said in the original post, I do not pay anyone or have I ever. They were either at the wrong house or they were scoping my house out. Down here, you never see two guys working on a pool. Just one. That was weird. And the fact that they did such a shitty job if there were at the wrong house.

I watch my neighbors guy come and clean his pool sometimes. Always just hoping to pick up a tip. Dude has a routine. He does the same thing every time and in a certain order. He is a machine. These guys looked like it was the first pool they have ever cleaned.

I still dont know what they were doing and why they were at my house. But if they were scoping my house out, they picked the wrong one in this neighborhood.

Rltiger, I would say that is very consistent to the guy that cleans my neighbors. About 20 mins to 30 mins. He brushes, vacuums , checks the chemicals and adds chlorine (He has a chlorine pool). He also washes the filter out every few weeks he comes.

This plus an mechanical pool cleaner like an Aiper, you are set. At one time, I had a pool service. Basically exactly what the op posted.

To be fair, your pool was clean. I’d question them the same if they spent 60 mins cleaning a clean pool.

Did they enter from the side? You don’t have a camera in the front also?

I’d be pretty upset if a vendor entered my house incorrectly like that

There is no way to know if a pool is clean if you dont check the water. The biggest part of their job is to make sure the chemicals are correct. Not scoop out a few leaves on top. Plus, you need to scrub the surfaces. They did not check the filter or even the skimmer.

I have a door on each side of my pool cage. They came in the right side.
