The size difference in the Apollo and Artemis II capsules is surprising

I had no idea Artemis was this much bigger. It won't be long and they will be sending RVs to the moon.

I’m not surprised.
One was launched in 1972 and the other in 2026.
Now if it were smaller…that would be surprising.

A lot of space buffs saw Apollo 13. They were using the lunar lander as an emergency space, so the combined ship was larger than the space the other missions had.
NASA should build replicas of all the Apollo and Artemis modules and set them up around the country. It would be awesome to visit a space museum and sit in one.

Hollywood has better cameras so the module looks better.
Am I doing it right?

Glad they added a commode in the new one

Are we just not gonna talk about the black alien figure standing betwixt the two modules?

For some reason, that doesn't look like the Orion capsule from the video feed. I also thought the toilet was in a separate space below deck.

I'm sure you're joking but that's meant as a scale reference

Next step is to get one that works.

A door would be nice too.

So many questions... where do they keep the food at? Where is the toliet in the Apollo? Is there a wall by the toliet for privacy? How do they prevent shite from floating out of the toliet?

If you ever go to the Air & Space Smithsonian on the Mall. That Apollo 11 capsule is damn small.
The technology is so far removed from what we have now. I am surprised the Saturn V could lift the weight of the astronauts' balls.

I've been inside the Apollo module on the USS Yorktown at Patriot's Point in Charleston. It's unbelievably small.
Also, anyone wanting tourist ideas in Charleston, the Yorktown at Patriot's Point is a must. I can't over emphasize how cool it is, and I'm not even a WWII enthusiast.

That picture was fake. You can tell by the shadows. Especially the shadow of the shadow.

There was no "toilet". Urine was collected through a vacuum hose and either vented into space or collected in sealed bags.
Fecal matter was *ahem* a horse of a different color. Results were mixed. It was effectively an attempt at a sealed diaper.

The Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville has an Appollo, Gemini and, Mercury capsule as well as a Sputnik. Just shocking how tiny they were.

“Inside Orion’s Cramped Quarters”

In the biggest upgrade over Apollo, Orion features a separate toilet compartment hidden behind a panel in the floor (circled in red)

The toilet room will also allow astronauts to wash in relative privacy, using liquid soap, flannels and rinseless shampoo to stay clean. Pictured: A training mockup of the Artemis II toilet used to practice on Earth
quote:
The crew will use a similar toilet to the one found on the ISS, known as the Universal Waste Management System (pictured), that uses 'air flow to pull fluid and solid waste away'

Imagine that uncomfortable silence when one of them really blasted off after a diet of space MRE's and reconstituted freeze-dried food.
