#1 - 2 championship teams with amazing talent and great coaching

#2 - he has entirely shite the bed on player evaluation and coaching this year

This is painful. Feels like a Smoke year.

One thing is like smoke. Everybody is swinging for the fence.

Smoke's last team wasn't this bad.

I love Jay and he’s an elite coach. But I’m afraid this year may end up worse than any of Smokes years.

Yes and Jay even has admitted and owned up to it. That’s why he is the best coach in all college baseball. His ego is not so big that he can’t see his own mistakes and then learn and adjust from them. Had Les been able to do that he may very well still be coaching at LSU.

Agreeed in both points. For him he’s given grace because of the unbelievable start to his coaching career. He’ll need to pick it up next year though.

He complains about the at bats that the team is taking regarding their approach to the plate. Am I missing something isn’t he the hitting coach. Apparently he can’t even evaluate who could hit who can’t hit in the SEC.

Smoke's last team won thirty-five games. This team doesn't have twelve more wins in them.

I don’t understand what’s so difficult to process that every great baseball coach in this era has down years.

O’Sullivan is a massive prick but he’s a great coach, and Florida has been remarkably inconsistent the last five years.

Jay is going to fix it, not sure what else needs to be said

Smoke also couldn’t win a game in the CWS. The two are different

That’s great. But we aren’t comparing Smoke and Jay by their coaching abilities or overall success. We are just talking about this team this year. In which THIS team could very well end up worse record wise than any of Smokes teams. We aren’t saying Jay is automatically another smoke if it does happen lol.

Well in that case, I agree this time may be worse than all of Smoke’s teams. Guess I just didn’t understand the point lol. This team is worse than many teams we’ve had.

Jay Johnson is a good coach. That being said, its crazy how the narrative shifts based one or two games here or there(I guess that’s sports in general though) Had we had lost to Little Rock last year ( a win certainly didn’t seem like a sure thing at all at the time), ppl would be calling for Johnson to be fired with the results this year. That would likely be 4/5 years to not make it past a regional and a .540 sec win record in his career at LSU. Credit where due….he is a hell of a tournament coach and we won the whole thing…hard to argue with 2-3 national titles. That being said it shows how quickly the narrative can change. Change that result alone and ppl would want him fired and instead LSU fans think he’s by far the best in baseball. I think he’s a good coach but not the best in the game. I thought Vitello was a better coach for instance when he was still in the sec. These next few years will validate where he stands.. should be fun.

Did smoke have a team fail to reach the tournament? I’m just asking I can’t recall.

I know Jay is a control freak but doesnt he have an assistant that was basically a scout in the major leagues. Though he was here for that reason, to evaluate
