i'd have to go with rocco's. But i have been wanting to try dempseys french dip. I have heard a lot of people talking about it.
J alexanders has one hell of a french dip, but of course its on the pricey side

Rocco's used to be pretty good until they went to Manda's, the death knell for RB. I always ask, is it real RB or is it Manda's?

Manda's had become so prevalent in BR that I stopped ordering RB here, if I want cold cuts I can go to Subway. If you know of places that have real, cooked in the restaurant RB, let me know.

I'll continue to pimp the hell out of "Tast of Louisana Cafe" in Denham's Antique District. It's REAL roast, NOT DELI MEAT, has a really dark homemade gravy and the bread is just right. It's the best I've had in the B.R. area.

ETA: Anyone who says Rocco's is either the worst judge of food in the world or hasn't been in years. It should be criminal to charge what he does for sliced Manda and packaged gravy. And of all people in the area he should know better. That dude grew up in St. Bernard, home of one of the best rb po-boys around at Rocky & Carlos.

Zeeland St. Market? It's pot roast though-dunno how you poboy gurus distinguish the two.

And if Bistro Byronz ever got the wild idea of putting their pot roast between bread, they could do some serious damage.

I will admit, i haven't had a roccos rb in a long time. I always go with the crescent city combo and bird mans wings.
Acme has a good roast beef poboy

I brought some customers to lunch at the Chimes a few weeks ago and noticed that….I asked our server about that and he said they took if off the menu because of the time & money it took to make that good Roast Beef daily…and then they would only sell about 8-10 poboys a day…

That's why I like Cafe Roux...I know the owner and know for a fact he cooks the roast beef himself....anyplace else, I'm just guessing.

It's my choice too.

For one of the worst restaurants in town.
