In the Quarters: Maximo's is pretty good.

My vote for best in the region is Del Porto in downtown Covington. One of the few Northshore places that rivals NOLA fine dining.

LA for all it's great cuisine is pretty weak in Italian dining.

I agree on Del Porto. It is the best Italian I have had not in NYC.

What he said, and I would add Maximo's and Carmelo's

Sal & Judy's is the shite! Big portions, good prices, great sauces, can't beat it

In order...

Vincent's
1179
Sal & Judy's
Cafe Giovanni
Mosca's
Faustos

And I've heard great things about Maximo's, but I've never been.

Ristorante da Piero...this is one of the best restaurants in the city...also, it is free of creolization of it's menu like most in this city.

It is straight up Italian in the Emilia Romagna style...which is the best food region in Italy.

Maximo's is good but more of a basic and simple place. 1179 and Tony Angelo's are tough to beat. Tommys is over-rated in my opinion, but I do still like Irene's

Tony Angelo's was pretty good for the $$$ before the hurricane. Used to be a place near Chef and Elysian fields called the Black Orchid.

Ain't there no more.

In BR I still like Ruffino's, and most of the ones listed.

Salvatore's Ristorante in metry across from Drago's is good and has a great floor show.

For the Sal and Sam's reference on Vets, it is no more.
Andrea's is over-hyped.
Tony Angelo's feed me is great.
