i sent him a message on facebook just to see if he'd reply and i was very surprised to see that he messaged me back.. i didnt think it would be appropriate to ridicule him and be a jackass b/c i didnt want him to think all LSU fans were assholes but here's what the messages said...
ME: hey man, LSU fan here... u had a GREAT series, i cringed everytime u came up to the plate.. if LSU dont win it next year, Texas probably will... but dude i was wondering, what was up with all the curtian calls??? after solo homeruns?? i didnt get it maybe u can explain it to me
Russell: haha i don't know, just something texas fans want after every homerun, i guess the fans arent as use to homeruns like the LSU fans are since we play at disch-faulk where very few homeruns are hit
again, i didnt feel the need to bash him and just wanted an answer to my question.. after all, he's just a kid.. i thought it was pretty cool he responded

Instead they think we're illiterate, thanks

good job not being a dick, and it was cool he responded, BUT its still stupid to take a curtain call after every homerun

seems like a cool guy, a little more respect for him now

i thought so too at first.. but some of the kids had not hit a home run in front of Texas fans all year.. i say let them enjoy it..

quote:They players might not know better (though I think they should), but certainly Augie should know better to let his players do that. In that setting, especially, it comes off as showing up the other team. Not kosher, IMO.

Curtain calls are reserved for the guy who, after having his hit third HR in a game, tips his cap after the whole stadium stands up and asks him to come back out. Not for a solo HR in the third inning when you have 200 Texas fans in Rosenblatt.
Having said that, props to him for at least explaining and not being a jackass about it.

yeah.. I'm ok with him claiming ignorance instead of "frick YOU, I DO WHAT I WANT"
Warren Morris didn't do a curtain call!

I was a little put off during the series with all the talk about the reason Texas hits so few home runs is due to the huge size of their home field.
However, here are the facts: Disch-Faulk dimensions are LF = 340', CF = 400' and RF = 325'. Their power alleys are 375'.
Alex Box dimensions are LF = 330', CF = 405' and RF = 330'. Power alleys are 365'.
It doesn't seem to me that their stadium in overwhelmingly larger than ours.

Moldenhauer's answer makes perfect sense to me.
Props to you for asking a tough question and mad props to him for answering honestly.
The Texas fans called for the Curtain Call and the player responded. The fans had not seen many HRs during the season, so, they were excited enough to make the curtain call.
Makes perfect sense to me.
Good job on getting that info.
Texas and Moldenhauer played one hell of a series and had an absolutely fantastic baseball season.

I thought Keyes was more bush league than Moldenhauer. Skipping, talking back to the pitchers, etc. He is good, just don't like him showing off. But I am sure our players do that to an extent as well.

nawww LSUomaha,
you said "dont" instead of "doesn't" ... some dicks on here think that constitutes being "illiterate"
