Any suggestions? I'm thinking about one of Bobby Flay's books. Anybody look through Weber's grill book?

Which grill did you get?
I got one of the cheaper Webers last year and love it.

The 3-burner Spirit. I really was eyeing the Genesis, but lacked the fundage.

My advice is to return it and get a charcoal grill, but if you are dead set on keeping a gas grill then I would start out cooking easy forgiving things like burgers, steaks, and veggies until you learn just how hot your grill is, from there I would move on to more difficult stuff like fish and chicken. Once you are comfortable cooking all that stuff then get a cookbook.

You really just want to know your grill well before you try out other folks recipes on it, IMO.

Have fun, Weber makes great grills.

Funny you should ask. My son wants to learn to grill so I've been doing some homework. The Advocate's Food section just this thursday a week ago gave a suggestion: "Weber's Way To Grill." Step by step guide, Sunset Books, author = Jamie Purviance, $24.95 paperback.

Weber's books are quite good. I have two - but they're on the moving truck so I can't give you the titles.

They're geared toward charcoal grilling, but the recipes are solid.

I bought 20 cookbooks before the internet. Will never buy another. Lots of places online. Here's one of my favorites.

It's really large. Just play around until you learn how to navigate to what you want.

Suit yourself. But a gas grill has it's place and it's a lucky man who owns a Weber.

Yep. 75% of the time I grill, it is for steaks and a gas grill is great for that. I also appreciate that when I am grilling other things, my Weber rarely has a flare up issue.

When I get home from work and want to grill something, I like just being able to push the button and be grilling 10 minutes later. Mine gets to 600 degrees in about five minutes.

I have a small Webber charcoal grill also for when I have the time and feel like cooking burgers on it.

Same here. Got rid of my Weber Performer charcoal grill 4 years ago. Great grill, but when I get home from work in the evening and want to grill, I wanted to do it in the least amount of time.
I purchased a Weber Genesis and have been more than pleased. I press a button and I'm ready to go. No flare ups, with nice even heat. I can control the temperature easily with the turn of a knob(s).

Bought my Big Green Egg for weekends when I have more time to devote to grill and/or smoking and absolutely love it.

Gas grills are more versatile than you think. But it pays to invest in a good one, such as a Weber. Better to put the money into a good one than to replace a POS grill every 2 years.
