Crowton interview on ESPN during the game

I know I'm little bit late on this, but if you guys saw the interview, you got a feeling that he knows he is already been axed. Some of the stuff he talked about Miles carrier, JJ's carrier seemed liked he knew his fate.

I got the same take away on that interview...seemed way too emotional. Seemed like he knows what's coming.

I took it as a mea culpa for his role in the end of game meltdown... seemed fine to me

Maybe he was still just emotional about the outcome of the Ole Miss game. Emotional about how he handled that last drive. Emotional for his team, and the fact it was senior week leading up to the Arkansas game. My point is there were many things that week to be emotional about, so I'd be very surprised to hear of his termination. Not that I'm satisfied with GC's performance for 2009.

Actually, I took it as him being really devastated about the terrible ending of the game. Not a change of career type of thing.

I watched it and I didn't take that from the interview at all. In fact, I thought the opposite...that he had learned from his mistakes, that that's what college football (playing and coaching) and life were all about, and that he's dedicated to being a better coach and improving from where he and the team are at currently. Not a big Crowton fan, just felt that he talked as if he would be at LSU for the next 20 years.

The only thing that made me think he may be gone was when he said "for the rest of our careers", as opposed to " for next year", but its hard to draw any conclusions about his future from that interview

I hope he isn't gone, for a couple of reasons.
1) Sure, there were some problems, but he is working with a short stack. An inexperienced and under-achieving QB who doesn't fully understand the system (but who has gotten better) working behind a porous O-line that cannot establish a running game or protect said QB is not a good basis on establishing how good (or bad) an OC is.
Note that several of the plays that he got hammered for calling in the Ole Miss game are the same plays that got us down the field and within field goal range in the Arkansas game. As long as he and the team learn from their mistakes, I can live with them (to an extent). The team is 9-3 this year, and barring poor clock management in Ole Miss (not the OCs fault) and some bad officiating in Bama, could well be 10-2 or 11-1. For any who remember the Archer/Hallman/DiNardo years, we are still living in golden times.
2) We are already going to have to replace Porter and probably McCarthy. Trying to replace too many pieces in the puzzle is never a good idea.
3) I do not know Coach Crowton personally, but I do know his wife and some of his children. They are upstanding people and are great role models for others in the community. Now I know we are talking football merit here, but this is just another (albeit personal) reason that I want them to stay.
Just IMHO.

It was a lame interview, but really, what's he gonna say in front of ESPN's cameras? Like, "I'm a freaking moron for calling those pass plays but Les is a bigger freaking moron for letting 17 seconds tick off the clock before calling a TO"? I just wish he'd been put in front of reporters in some venue where he had to answer the question: why the idiot pass calls?
