Why is the Marquette/Kentucky game so high on that list? The Hampton game was a much bigger upset.

Kentucky was like 35-2 or something going into the game. That UK team was sick...

Meh, Duke was 30-3 when we played them.

But Glen Davis, Tyrus Thomas and Darrel Mitchell played a swarming defense that forced J.J. Redick into one of the worst shooting nights (3-18) of his career.

It strikes me as strange that they failed to name Temple who was actually the person covering him the whole game. In fact, Temple was the one who got props from the national media for his performance.

As much as I hate to bring it up, UNLV's loss to Duke in 1991. Damn I miss my Runnin' Rebels days. I still have my towel to chew on!

Real hoops junkies know some of these were real, some others just media hyperbole..(like Ole Miss "upset" of #8 LSU a few weeks back, yet as a 3 pt chalk!)

Duke was #1 in 2006, but a beatable one, relying far too much on Reddick and Williams, the rest were non-scoring filler, and LSU was a #3 seed if done properly, flirted with being a #2 for some of the year..line opened Duke -6ish and was 4ish by gametime. Is GT locking down JJ a surprise? Maybe to the degree he did it, but a mere two basket underdog. LSU was almost as good as that Duke team on many a night, not just that weekend in Atlanta.

Public perception is what's behind most of these surprises being so-called "shockers".

That Ky team that Wade beat, was good yet very vulnerable, and predicted by many to be one of the #1s that wouldn't get to the F4..Tubby's Cokeresque title magic was starting to wear thinner..he wouldn't cheat to bring the type UK ballers Calipari will!

Every wiseguy in the world, and all their followers were all over Bucknell over Kansas outright, as they were all over Davidson over Georgetown +8.5 and outright, and which was expected by many sharpies. These games with fair pointspreads. Also they hammered Pearl's 2004-2005 UW-Milwaukee getting points in all their NCAA tourney games.

Athletic, tall, shot-blocking and three-shooting Northwestern St, drew all the money vs Iowa, whom was white and slow..anyone that saw the Demons in their conference tourney during Championship Week, was all over them vs Iowa.

Chris Paul was largely "the show" for that WF team, which had the nice collegian Euro wing guy and a few other guys that could score when Paul created their shots. This upset wasn't that surprising, as they played games to the wire all year..lacked killer instinct.

And Stanford's white slow bangers losing in the 2nd round for the 5th time in 6 years, to an athletic Bama team(whom with Aub has a notorious SW-16 type team every so often), and which had some same players that pushed 2006 F4 UCLA squad to the edge..absolutely no surprise!

You're right, it was in 2006. On top of that, I am more disappointed Garrett Temple's name is missing.

J.J. Redick took 18 shots, missed 15 of them and Garrett Temple was the big reason why.
