My fiancee and I are getting married in March and we're looking for rehearsal dinner spots. We will have lots of non-locals and want to feed them well in a local atmosphere. Commanders is booked. We are considering the following and I welcome your opinions as to:

Galatoires
Arnaud's
K-Paul's
August
Delmonico
Emeril's
NOLA

I also welcome your opinions as to restaurants I haven't listed. Additionally, last time I was in town I ate at Herbsaint and was thoroughly impressed. I noticed they have a venue called Calcasieu and, given the level of Herbsaint's food, I'm enticed by the opportunity of having them cater an event.

You have a pretty good list there. How many people are you talking about doing and what is money not an option?

Also add Muriels to the list. Not quite as good food wise, but they have a great upstairs private dining area with a balcony that overlooks Jackson Square.

Ralph's on the Park. That's where I had mine and it was great.

I've been doing research on rehearsal dinner places in NOLA for my wedding next summer. I looked at all those places you have listed, plus more.

Calcasieu - it's very modern-ish and won't have that "New Orleans" feel to it.

If you don't mind me asking, about how many people do you have in your party? Also, is elevator access a necessity if the room is on the 2nd floor? I could narrow down your list if you answer those 2 questions.

Along with the list you have, I looked at Broussards, Ralphs on the Park, and Antoines.

Right now we're looking at about 50-60 people and would like to keep it at or under $10,000 TT&L (ideally under). My cousin had his at Galatoires and it was a great time; however, I'm interested to see if there are any other places that are as good or as fun while still giving somewhat of a New Orleans experience. I'll take a look at Muriels, too.

How's the atmosphere at Ralph's?

I don't think an elevator is an absolute necessity. I know we'll have one old-tymer who needs help, but I think we should be able to get her around alright.

How is Antoine's?

The best IMO. Had mine in the Japanese Room. Antoine's does private parties better than anyplace. 100 people and it was impeccable.

You could definitely have it at Broussards for under 10k. I went to a rehearsal dinner here and it was fantastic. I also went to one at Arnauds last year and it was great too.

Thing is with Galatoires they don't really have room for a cocktail hour if you wanted to do that before the dinner. Other than that, you should be able to fit your party in the big room upstairs.

I haven't looked at Muriels because its already booked the weekend of my wedding next summer.

I've never actually eaten at Ralph's but they fit my criteria (so far). It's no FQ but it has a nice balcony that provides a decent view of City Park.

Check into Gautreaus. With your amount you can do a buyout of the restaurant. Not sure of the cost.

I have about 75-80 people and I narrowed my options to Commanders, Broussards, Ralph's on the Park, and Antoines.

Hey I work for the Copeland family and I know that they were talking about using their Social City location for private parties and rehearsal dinners a while back.

I'm pretty sure that they can create a menu for you (besides what they usually carry.)

Just something to think about.

Had my own at Impastato's; just attended another one a few weeks back and it was every bit as delicious. Service was great.

It's probably a little cramped for that size of party, but they did a great job both times - years apart.

I think you get the best "bang for your buck" at Ralph's and Muriel's. JMO though.

My lil brother is getting married in December and I believe they are having it at the Palace Cafe, mostly because of the proximity to the Sheraton and the Marriot

Did mine at the Alligator/swamp exhibit at the Zoo...had a lot of out of towners and kids and it ended up being a perfect spot.
