What's with all the bitching about the bowl matchup?

OK so you wanted to go to the Capital One Bowl. Tough shite, it didn't happen.
There are a few good things about the Cotton Bowl
1. It's the Cotton Bowl. The Cotton Bowl is one of the best non BCS bowls IMO.
2. It's in Jerry World. Pretty cool venue to check out a game. This has to be at least a little bit exciting right?
3. Texas A and M is actually pretty good this year and beat both teams that were in the big 12 Championship game.
4. The game will be better exposure than people think for the following reasons
a. It's on network television. That's still worth something believe it or not.
b. It's the only bowl game that is on that day. So the die hard football fans will be watching that game by default. Compare that to the Capital One Bowl where you have 4 games that will be playing in the same time slot pretty much.
c. It's the only college game that Fox has so there is a chance they might plug it some during their NFL coverage.
We weren't a championship caliber team this year and we probably didn't deserve to go to a BCS bowl as an at large team. Why is everyone pissed off about what non BCS bowl we go to? It's asinine.

Duck. These people have heard all this already. For me, I like your post. Especially the part where you said that they beat both of the teams in the Big 12 conference champ. game.

Right. If we got shunned out of a BCS bowl where we thought we deserved to be in I could see it. But that's not what happened.

Oh my God, scroll down and take about 15 minutes (waste 15 minutes) of your life sifting through all the response about the Cotton Bowl. I'm with the OP on this one. A lot of LSU fans are whining that we got screwed, blah blah blah. It's the "I am entitled" mindset that really pisses me off.
LSU is not entitled for jack shite. We had our chance, and lost against Arkansas. It's not like we were yanked out the top ten and it's not like we were given the Liberty bowl, but you'd swear that's what happened from reading the responses.

i, for one, wanted the cap 1 bowl. but i heard last night that we were not going there. therefore, i quit bitching and accepted that it really isn't up to me and it was over. fancy that. also, i really like your phrase..."tough shite". as an old baseball coach, i have used that many times. like crying, whineing and bitching have no place on a baseball team.

Why does it matter what "bowl" we go to anyway? You do realize that if we had a basketball or baseball team that finished the regular season ranked in the Top 10, it would have a chance to play for a national championship, don't you? All of which was denied us thanks to the steaming pile that is the BCS.

I doubt the average college football fan can distinguish the difference between the Cotton Bowl, the Cap One Bowl, the Outback Bowl and the Gator Bowl. They're all just places they send conference runners up to play. A year from now, the only people in the universe who will remember this year's Cotton Bowl are us and Aggie fans. Much ado about nothing.
