Going there tonight with a party of 8, I haven't been in probably 10 years... Still cash only? Will it be difficult to get a table?

yep and yep.

But it is a dining experience. Should take you at least 3 hours.

By far...and I mean FAR....the most overrated restaurant in the New Orleans area.

It's ok at best, but not all that and a bag of chips. And yes, I gave it three tries on the chance that the first night I went was an "off" night.

I agree with you that the food is overrated but as a New Orleans cultural experience it is not overrated.

Last time I showed up on a Friday night they said " reservations only on Friday Saturday is catch as catch can.

That said, best spaghetti and meatballs on the planet. The chicken whatever for two is really good but not Tujaques good. House Chianti is dago red good.

Good luck and tell us how it was. I was there a month ago.

The house Chianti is good. Spaghetti is above average but really good spaghetti is still just spaghetti.

Anyone who doesn't love the oysters Mosca, the spaghetti Bordelaise, chicken a la grande, Italian sausage, etc., knows dick about good food and their opinion cannot be trusted.

Didn't say it wasn't good. It's ok.
But it certainly is not even close to being the best Italian...or whatever you would want to classify it...in the New Orleans area.

People love it because of the nostalgia of the old days for the most part.

I don't know of any other restaurant that says more about the person doing the reviewing.

Certainly some people love nostalgia, but it's the food that does it at Mosca's. No way do I drive all the way to that place becasue of nostalgia.
