...I really can't anymore. I contended that we faced some of the top offenses in the league, and that the stats were blown out of proportion. But yesterday, the bad plays were just extremely bad. Missed tackles, blown coverage, dropped ints, Shanle being responsible for redirecting the fastest guy on the field Even one of my favorite players, Harper, has been playing like shite the past two games.

I hate losing games, but maybe it was a good thing the offense finally had a bad game. GW and these players need to be held accountable. We've been in this system going on 3 years. There's no excuse for these mistakes. We invested a lot of money in these DT's. There's no reason they should be getting pushed around. You let a team that scored 3 points last week push your shite in. Pffttt...

Also, I want to add another thing unrelated to the defense. Get rid of Kruetz. He's pretty much worthless except for making line calls.

I agree about kreutz with the way DLP has played. But to Thierry credit, the secondary was playing lights out in the second half. Greer, Robinson, and Jenkins played well. Shanle is a fricking bitch. He didn't even attempt to jam that receiver inside of five yards and just let him blow by for that TD. If he would grow some nuts and be more aggressive, jamming that guy would have given Greer more time to peel off that underneath route and fall in coverage on that deep route. To shanles credit though, he did have several good plays yesterday.

ETA- we continue to get cornholed by officiating weekly. bullshite call on Jenkins. And the end of the game challenge where the ball obviously hit the ground. There were a couple others as well.

My biggest beef with the defense is our line is getting pushed around. You know how big our line is?

Gee, is this an apology to those of us who were dogging the Saints' tackling during the GB game?

More like your kid screwed up one too many times and you realize he needs to get his arse busted.

I'm sure they'll get their act together. Hopefully, Sunday was an anomaly, and not a trend. I can't see the D allowing this to happen again.

Harper is effing killing us.

That whiff on the throw himself at Graham's legs was literally unexcusable. Harper is on this team for run support. We all know he can't cover worth a shite, but at least he can tackle. Well, he can even tackle a back up running back when they are squared up in the whole.

Look I love Greg, defense is the reason we have a Lombardi. I hated that contract Harper got and Gregg defended so I let it go. But now, Harper is a huge liability and will keep this defense from playing at a higher level.

I can't believe we only have 3 INTs in 6 games.

It's a problem. I've said before that the Saints D seems designed to be only a speed bump for opposing offenses; a speed bump intended only to hold the opposing O to a field goal on a drive or two, thus winning the game, because the Saints O (Drew Brees specifically) will out score every opponent. That's what we have on Defense: a speed bump.

Not going to excuse Brees COMPLETELY for his bad decisions yesterday, but this defense's inability to make a stop and get a turnover when we need is putting so much pressure on #9's shoulders. He knows it's all on him, and he is just forcing the matter.

Williams needs to go.

find me a defense in the league that doesn't allow 26 points after the offense turns the ball over 4 times and has 3 3 and outs. They played great in the 2nd half.

We're an average NFL defense. An average NFL defense that hasn't had the opportunity to play with a lead at any point this season besides the 2nd half of the bears game.

Imagine if we were NE....first in offense, last in defense...and leading their division at 5-1. Bet their fans aren't in freak out mode. I really really think some people are going a little overboard in their reactions...think about it, as someone else said, despite giving up 4 turnovers(you'll never win a game with 4 turnover[which resulted in 10 points]), despite losing your offensive playcaller early in the first quarter, despite being our third road game, we only lost by 6. Mind you, TB is a really good not great team that got spanked last week and had something to prove...and we lost by six. I just think there is a lot of football still to be played....

Exactly. that's what I'm saying. If Drew completes that pass in the endzone...this thread is never started.

Not to mention...TB is an o.k. team..they had 10 wins last year and should have made the playoffs. We had an off day.....TB should have beat us worse than what they did...but they didnt capitalize the way they should have. They didnt because they are not THAT good....we are still the best team in our division.

I thought we looked like we were running around with cement around our ankles...and we just were out of rhythm once SP went down....

That and the fact they they may have just taken TB a little too lightly after see they got beat down by 40pts last week. frick, we won 4 straight games that were not gimmie games... except for maybe JAX, but still 4 in a row is a good run...they'll fix the issues and we'll be okay.

shite, I remember writing this team off after the 3 straight losses at the end of 09..and look what happened

We are only 6 games in..more than half the season to play..plenty of time to correct the problem.

People just need to calm down

Anyone who posted that after 1 game is still a reactionary dumbass. You can't make calls after one game. Its not a large enough sample size and its that kind of reactionary bullshite that is the problem with internet message boards.

However, you CAN make the call at this point. The defense is not playing very well in the first half of games. Its a league wide thing, probably because of the lockout, new practice rules and the penalties in favor of Offenses.

But those are excuses. The Defense is tackling like shite and can't get a sack or turnover to save their lives right now. Pretty disappointing.
