I live and work in Houston and pay close attention to the sports here. Check out chron.com sports frontpage:

I had no idea the Dynamo were in the championship game... it's basically not even news.

Small audience of people.

Ask this worldwide and you would be beaten.

Average attendance at MLS games > average attendance at NBA games. Just sayin

ETA: talking about NBA games stats from last year.

Yeah, the MLS just passed the NBA this season in per game attendance. I guess at least a few million people care.

Replace NBA with NHL and the same fact still applies.

Team paid for stadium while the city and county paid for land and improvements to the area. There is no way in hell they would have a gotten a deal if it was done in the same way as the other teams here got theirs.

Don't they play about 1/3 of the games over a full NBA season though?

Sounds like that is the NBA's problem. If you have so many games that people stop caring...well...

I think the NBA and the MLB's season is too long, but that is a whole different topic.

Andrew Luck cares!

Me too. The final is right up the street from me. Been sold out for a week. Oh and the Galaxy just signed a huge (for soccer) TV contract. Either soccer is much bigger here or it's just you.
