i know the 20 something pot smokers are going to blast me, but does anyone think his bit is getting old?
i didnt plan it this way, but for some reason 3 of the past 5 or 6 movies my wife and I have watched recently were the Hangover 2, Due Date, and Dinner for Schucks and honestly we both thought he was way overacting and too over the top in all of them.
In hangover his lines just werent funny and in due date he was just plain stupid. DFS was just awful all the way around.
I think he's best in small doses like in Hangover 1, but him in Due Date and Hangover 2 his parts felt forced and like he was trying too hard.
of course i wasnt that impressed with all 3 of those movies overall but i thought his part could have been much more than it was.

I agree, and i feel the same way bout Will Ferrell and John C. Riley, but ZG has comedy skill outside of playing a retard. Out Cold is one of my fav movies ever and he doesn't play a complete retard in that.
I think he is building his characters off of the positive feedback he gets from his "Between two Ferns" things

I agree with you that his character is starting to feel old but out of curiosity, were you a fan of his before he made it big with The Hangover?
I think this is something that happens to a lot of comedians. The studios end up having to feed the beast of public consumption and give them what they want.
It is one of the reasons I really enjoy Louis CK. His show is completely his own creation and he throws away his act every year and creates all new material.

thats the weird part is I still like him, just in small doses.
Between two Ferns is brillant but i think maybe in his mind since he's now known as a big star he thinks the audience expects more so he's trying too hard. just my opinion.

i wouldn't say disappointed, but Step Brothers. It is a very funny movie, but the characters they play are just so dumbed down that is irritates me. It seems like every movie they in, their Character gets dumber.
now, for JCR i will say that Cedar Rapids was great. He played a/an (semi) intelligent character and it waas great. But the characters of Ferrell and Riley have been on a steady decline in the last few years IMO, especially when they share the screen together.

interesting. Stepbrothers is probably my favorite comedy from either of the 2

Zach Galigianakis has been around a lonnnnng time. Long before he got this success and fame.
You should look into his older stuff.

I'm not saying he's not funny and I know his older stuff is much better. I'm just saying IMO that recently he is being overexposed and not as funny.
Step brothers is genius BTW.

Go watch It's Kind of a Funny Story. I thought he was really good in that. It's also a pretty good flick.

That gif was from his Live from the Purple Onion standup DVD. I bought it about a year ago and loved it. It's basically consist of a shite ton of one-liners and rambling but its worth a watch.

If you watch some of his interviews you'll get a better feel for who he is. He didn't want to do Hangover 2 because he felt it was too soon and forced.
He's just doing his job. People are paying him a lot of money to act stupid. He's just paying the bills. It's not that serious.
