I parked my truck on a very major thoroughfare in New Orleans two weekends ago, and some dumb, drunk bitch plowed into the back, driver corner of my 5 month old King Ranch.

Adjuster is looking at it, and I am devastated dude. It's not the fact that I need a new bed and bumper. All that shite pretty much just bolts up. It's the bent frame, bent rear axle, possibly bent drive axle, and dented cab that is killing me.

For example, how are they fixing the dented cab? Oh, we grind on it and fill it with the equivalent of bondo and paint over it.

Anyone else feel my pain? I knew if anyone does , it's the OB. A lot of people take this stuff in stride, but I don't. Someone please cheer me up

How much damage? Not enough to total it?

Remember, you have the choice of who you want to fix it. The insurance company will push you to a repair shop of their choice, but you get to decide. Pick a good one.

That sucks to hear that. I'd hate to drop that much on a new truck then have some dumbass ruin it so soon.

Just be glad she had insurance.

Try to get the adjuster to total it?

If you go to a reputable body shop, they should know how to tap that dent out 99% of the way. Body filler (bondo) shouldn't be applied any thicker that 1/8"

Bent axle and frame? She must have slammed your truck hard as hell to bend the frame.

If it's that bad, get it repaired and sell. You'll always have alignment problems/ tires wearing out quickly.

Bent the frame? Damn, you sure they won't just total it?

ETA: Dibs on the seats/console, power fold mirrors, and reverse sensors/tailgate. I have a XLT to upgrade.

If you're frame is bent, they'll more than likely total it.

They'll even tell you what shop you have to visit to get the estimate. That doesn't mean you have to get it fixed at the shop that wrote the estimate. Insurance companies are sneaky like that.....

If she was really drunk then sue her. It's another headache, but maybe you could get yourself a newer, nicer truck?

They said the frame is bent, but not much and they shoudl be able to get it back. I'm not crossing my damn fingers though.

I brought it to Champs and it just happens that it's on Geico's list as well. They did not pressure me one way or the other, but I honestly don't know of a reputable collision shop that would do it any better than Champs. They seem like good folks.

Black truck. Sorry Pintail.

Sucks.
I've been driving with $1400 of damage on my front end for over a year.
Fog lights point in the sky.
Can't afford to fix it.

Too late, I already have dibs.

ETA: While we're at it I'd also take your headlights and front grill.

Good stuff. I'll check that out when I go visit. I don't know much about that body filler, but my worry is that it won't stick long term.

I don't want to get ahead of myself too much. Right now, I am just crossing my fingers that everything will be ok and just like it was with no discernable difference. I will be aiming for diminished value for sure, so that could be a positive.

If things aren't 'quite right', I'm going to get with insurance and body shop to try and correct. If they refuse and I think it is a big deal, I am going to get legal help for sure. And I think I'll win.
