For those who, like me, have gravitated to this board a great deal over the years, was there one thing that brought you to the MTV board? Is it a particular show? a life-long love of movies and/or TV? the ambiance of the place? the quality off conversation?

For me, it's become one of my top boards, up there with the OT and with Tiger Rant during football(and to an extent Baseball) season.

I think it might have been a combination of the discussions on Gam of Thrones and Walking Dead that got me really hooked here. And of course I love it when threads about things like Band of Brothers or Lonesome Dove pop up. And sometimes the "what's the best of ..... genre" threads.

Of course, I've aways had a fondness for discussions about television and movies. Way back, I used to frequent the old Mighty Big TV board which became Television Without Pity and then proceeded to go to crap when the original board creators sold it and left. And I even would go to boards like TheOneRIng.Net from time to time. (talk about a place where saying anything even remotely critical about any part of the movie was pounced on by a group of zealous fans).

Discussion surrounding TV shows (and movies for some) is just as good as watching the show itself.

I started posting when I first watched The Sopranos a few summers ago. Since then I have watched a LOT of TV series, and the discussion surrounding the shows on here is what makes them even better.

My first posts were on the OT and everyone kept calling me GCS. It wasn't very welcoming so I checked out this board and the food and drink board and liked what I saw. Most of my first 1000 were here and the food board.

I started hanging out here a lot during Chuck's run.

I find this board to have more of my ilk and it's more fun than the other boards.

Aside from spoilers, new logo's and JGL nothing gets taken too seriously here.

I find that this board is just way more collegial than any of the others. Even when people disagree, people tend to (at least pretend to) like each other. It's like having a discussion with friends, not trying to be the biggest a-hole in the room and shout down everyone else. And tastes are fairly diverse. You can admit to your love of Saved by the Bell without fear of mockery (even though you're wrong, that show sucked...)

Yeah, there's almost never an argument here.

Besides Transformers 2, there are very few movies that send me spinning off into a self-destructive psychotic rage, and even if I don't like the movie, I can recognize the reasons someone else might like it.

It is impressive. It is almost Rainman-esque.

For someone who loves movies and television as much as i do, it's a no brainer to hang out in here. Plus, as has been mentioned, the general culture on here is one of the best on TD, i think.

I think it might've been LOST. I've been on TD a while but didn't start actively posting on M/TV until a few years ago. Man, if someone new thought the breaking bad episode threads were intense..the LOST threads were even crazier

My favorite board on TD, by far.

I definitely agree that the tone, culture, just level of discourse is much better on here than most of the other boards. I also agree that, with the somewhat notable exception of battles over spoiler definition, use, etc. that everyone talks to each other like adults on here.

I wondered why they didn't talk about TV and movies on the OT, so I looked around..

You can kindly go frick yourself, good sir.

I came here originally because I am into movies and TV...I love that shite. So this board was a natural fit for me. But on top of that, I love it here because it's the best board on TD, by a fricking TON. The discourse is usually (usually) respectable, and even when it may not be, things never get too out of hand. The IMing is kept pretty well to a minimum. Not a lot of hardlegging (except for the Voice threads a little) or knighting. No idiots clamoring for a daily this or nightly that thread. And most of all, I feel like for the most part, the idiots of TD generally stay away from here.

On top of that, I am always finding discussions of shows that I love, recommendations of shows I should watch (and have watched and loved), movies to check out, etc.

Just a great board all around.

Oh, and one of the main reasons SBTB is so great is because it's so bad.

Sometimes the discussion surrounding the show is the best part of the show, for example, The Following.
