Why Has There Been No Ferris Bueller Sequel?

Make Ferris the dad with a teenaged son or daughter?
I'm not saying it would win an academy award, but it would be great.
I guess because John Hughes died. Nevermind. I answered my own question. I would still love to see it, though.

Sounds like a horrible idea. This would be like the abomination that I imagine Sandlot 3 is. Leave great alone.

Because Cameron's dad killed him when he found out about the car, Ferris in retaliation burned their house down killing both of Cameron's parents. He's currently serving 20 more years in a state prison

I think that horrible Ferris Bueller TV series may have had something to do with it.

How about a spin off with Charlie Sheen and Ferris' sister as a middle aged married couple instead

Ferris grew up and became a worm scientist

Bieber as Ferris Jr. is just what Hollywood needs right now.

Didn't we say all that needed to be said with the first one?

Too good of a movie to ruin!

Broderick and Hughes discussed a sequel and found that the story was already told.

But we never got the full story of the parking lot joy ride?
All we know is that they spoke English...
That had Thelma and Louise potential...they were gone all day.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of those movies like The Big Lebowski where a sequel would only tarnish the original IMO

It's not quite as cool when a 45 year old ditches his high school classes and goes to a baseball game with his lame friend.

Because part of the reason the 80's were awesome was because not every good movie that did well at the box office had a crappy sequel that would tarnish it's memory forever.

Well that's false. A ton of great 80s movies had shitty sequels.

I had always thought that if there was going to be a sequel it could have been something along the lines of Ferris as an adult...say late 30's early 40's who has settled down. Wife, kids, job he's not awesomely fond of.
Cameron, on the other hand, used that day off and it changed the direction of his life. As we thought they would, they lost touch with each other during college and the movie takes place with them meeting up again. This time with Cameron having to return the favor of reminding Ferris how much fun life can be. Heart warming comedy ensues.
If done well, it could have been fun. If bad, it could have ruined my childhood memories...

Because it was made at a time when Hollywood didn't try to sequel everything
