Why do LSU fans leave football games so early?

I'm genuinely curious. I admit I've only attended one game this season and I stayed until after the football team sang the alma mater with the student section and I wanted to stay longer.
Last night the stadium was probably 40%-50% empty midway through the fourth quarter and we were winning an SEC game that we needed to win to become bowl eligible, not exactly an unimportant feat.
It didn't use to be that way. Does anyone know what has changed that makes LSU fans leave games early?

It's because everything was better back in your day

years ago games weren't televised and typically lasted aroud 3 hours...now, there is an additional hour of dead time while tv commercials are played...games typically last around 4 hours, which is too long.

This has been answered with all the excuses a million times.
Fwiw I don't get it either. People have always left early, but recently it's getting pretty pathetic. Mid 3rd Qtr?

It's traffic. Plain and simple. Nobody wants to sit in a line of unmoving traffic for 3 hours just to get to bluebonnet.
The funny thing is...leaving early doesn't really help. Unless you leave really early like halftime.

Because football is a scary sport

I never left early except for a couple non-conference blowouts.
In case the OP missed one of the many quality threads on this topic, it's a combination of many things. The only good answer is that your generation is better and would never have let this happen

Dunno. I left the stadium to catch the internet. I watched streams of fans, lots of blue, but LOTS of LSU fans, leave the gates.
I could not understand why as I walked back to my seat.

In no particular order:
-Post game traffic
-LSU rank
-Opponent rank
-Style of play (LSU)
-Apathy
-Expectation level
(many others)

Those 40-50 percent of students are drunk and don't want o be standing in Tiger Stadium for three and a half hours. This is the honest truth. I have been there seen this and even done this.

I don't really get it either. I've always stayed for the whole game. Traffic is a lame excuse too. That is something that just comes with going to a game.
