Anyone here ever hear or seen/been in one of these tunnels?

I've heard there are a few others between different buildings (old State Capitol, Heidelberg Hotel, etc.

This is supposed to be an image of one near Spanish Moon

I remember hearing that you could run around in tunnel like pipes under the quad. Don't know if this is true though

I'm not talking about the tunnels under LSU, I've been in those many times. I am talking about downtown.

Heidelberg

There is a tunnel that connects the Heidelberg (now the Hilton) to another building (maybe what is now the Indigo?) across Lafayette street. Supposedly Huey Long kept a penthouse at one and used the tunnel to visit women at the other without being seen. I'm not sure how true that is and I don't think I believe it.

The tunnel is real though . There was a fancy bar inside of it underneath Lafayette street associated with the Hilton. It was flooded during Gustav and has not reopened to the public. I think it's only used for storage now.

National Park Service page about the Heidelberg tunnel.

LINK

quote:

In the 1930s, Long oversaw construction of a new state capitol building, four blocks from the Heidelberg Hotel. Among its hallmarks was its rank as the tallest capitol building in the U.S. One of the unique features of the hotel is the secret underground passageway to the King Hotel across the street, which gave Huey direct access to his flamboyant mistress. In 1931, the Heidelberg itself served as the Louisiana Capitol during a dispute between Long and Lieutenant Governor Paul Cyr. Long, newly elected as senator, refused to relinquish his duties as governor and Cyr set up operations in the hotel.

Those are Illuminati tunnels. They use them to beat the rush hour traffic in Baton Rouge.
Don't any of you watch the Discovery Channel?
