really great work by Jonh Williams.

Forest Gump is my favorite non-original sound track- some great songs.

No. Songs were taken from Bee Gees album to use.

Yes to Star Wars.

I can't think of many better, but from top to bottom it's probably the most iconic imo

Although some of the tracks were taken from a proposed album they were used on the soundtrack instead. I think a few songs-only one or two-had been on prior Bee Gees albums. so they were introduced by the movie. So wouldnt Saturday Night Fever qualify?

The Indiana Jones theme is my favorite individual song from Williams but all of the themes he did for Star Wars make it the most impressive.

Funny, because I can't remember a single one right now.

Last of the Mohicans, Braveheart, and Legends of the Fall were all great as well.

By coincidence, I saw this clip of the Bee Gees on a talk show earlier. According to them, it was a separate album.

Setting aside actual musical acts with a movie/soundtrack (Help!, Purple Rain), biopics about music legends (Ray, Walk the Line) and concert films, (Gimme Shelter, The Last Waltz), films with excellent pop/rock/mainstream music as the underlying soundtrack include:

American Graffiti

As you indicated, Forrest Gump

Vision Quest

Heavy Metal

Say Anything

Almost Famous (hybrid of music from the era and new music written to fit into that, as it is about a fiction 1970s rock band)

Good Morning Vietnam

Grosse Pointe Blank

Boogie Nights

O Brother Where Art Thou

Outside of Star Wars, this is probably my favorite original, ambient score.

Empires score is better overall than Star Wars. The Imperial March is possibly the most iconic theme in the history of cinema.

Does Fargo season 2 not count because its still on? It already beats a lot of these.

I have always loved the original score to Glory. It is up there with Last of The Mohicans to me......but below SW.

I think it is, even today it brings out such emotion and nostalgia. Its incredible to look at John Williams' total body of work..I think he's the best movie composer ever.

The Jurassic Park theme tops my list. Love the buildup.
