Looking for an anniversary restaurant in new orleans.

Thinking (in no order)
Gautreaus
Commanders
Peche
August

Which out of those or others would you recommend. We eat everything and not locked to a certain part of the city.

Peche is not really an "anniversary" restaurant, to me, though I love it. Great lunch spot if you're having more than one meal. The rest of your list is fine. Look at the menus and decide what kind of food you're in the mood for on that special day. Can't go wrong.

We had my wife's birthday meal at August a few days ago. It was phenomenal. Highly recommended for an event like yours.

Peche is fantastic. I agree with Gris Gris that it isn't really a place for romance if that's what you're after.

Drop Peche and your list is basically a coin flip.

I would choose

What would you think someone would look for in an anniversary restaurant?

I would think they would go to the restaurant that best suits what they want to eat.

GG said Peche wasn't an anniversary restaurant. Is ones SO not going to be impressed if you take her to Peche? What's the deal?

Meh, maybe white table cloth, candles, excellent service, great wine list, etc.
You know, that stuff that many consider romantic.

Thanks Walt. I guess older people enjoy eating in no lights and silence. They shouldn't call it a celebration then.

Any of those, except Peche, would be fine (Peche is great but not for an anniversary dinner).

Gautreau's is probably more romantic than August.

I don't find Peche to be as intimate for two people on a special night especially if you get stuck in one of the two top booths that are connected together along the wall. If that's not important to the couple or if they're going with other guests, then it might be fine.

One in the OP's list was not like the others, in my opinion. I took that as a clue.

For some people who don't eat out much and just want to try a restaurant they've wanted to try rather than a romantic or intimate restaurant, it might be just the place.

Maybe they talk to each other rather than eating in silence. I love lively restaurants. I prefer them, but if I'm sharing the evening with that special someone, sometimes I want candles, but it won't be silent. And, I don't know why one needs lights and noise to celebrate. A celebration is what you make it

What's your idea of a romantic meal setting, Lester?

Peche is good but loud like a club. I went for lunch with a bunch of foodies and it was great. But a celebration dinner with hubs I want to not have to yell to be heard.

If I was choosing a place it would be between Compere Lapin or La Petite Grocery.

ETA, out of your list Gautreaus.
