With two days til he takes home his first best actor oscar, lets look back at his career. What's his best movie? Best performance? Best pairing with (actor, actress, or director)?

Leo is a solid actor and he takes on side roles in solid movies with solid directors, unfortunately his movies all contain absolutely stellar casts and he ends up being out acted by costar in most of them.

The Departed comes to mind right when you say that

You thought Leo was far and away the best performance in the departed?
Nicholson, Damon, Baldwin, all subpar?

Vulture just ranked all of his performances, and it really puts in perspective, to me, how great his career has been. Even some of his misses are what I call "interesting failures". He's had a fascinating career. Yes, he's worked with some great directors and casts, but I think that's actually made him underrated. He carried Titanic, yet he was about the only person not to get an Oscar for that film (he wasn't even nominated).

I've been a fan of his ever since his first three films I saw were This Boy's Life, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, and the Basketball Diaries. I mean, Jesus. What a start to a career. Then we have the forgettable Quick and the Dead followed by the insane brilliance of Romeo + Juliet, the breakout Titanic, the Woody Allen stand in of Celebrity, and my favorite interesting failure of his: The Beach. He closed out his first decade of Hollywood acting with Gangs of New York and Catch Me If You Can. Had he died right then, he would've gone down as a great actor, Oscar or no.

I agree with all of this.

I left out Marvin's Room which is one of his big breakout roles because he is the standout performance in a film with Meryl Streep, Diane Keaton, and DeNiro (again!). That said, the movie is kinda crappy. It's a great resume line, but I'm not a fan of it.

Best pairing IMO was with Tom Hanks in Catch Me If You Can

Just looking at his resume, he's just so dang stacked. When your worst film is the note SO terrible Man in the Iron Mask....that's not that bad.
In films like Basketball Diaries, R+J, and the Aviator, he just puts everything out there (have not seen the Revenant admittedly). I'd probably agree with the Vulture list the Aviator is his single best acting achievement. I really like that film and he's a big reason why.
I couldn't even tell you what his best movie is - Aviator, Romeo, Shutter Island, Inception - just incredibly varied.

Yes, but man do I really like the chemistry between the entire cast of Roemo and Juliet. It all just works so surprisingly well that I can't help but think it's the best. Tom Hanks and DiCaprio is like a "no duh," moment for me. Of course they would be awesome on screen together.

Movie that always jumps to mind when I think of Dicaprio is This Boy's Life. Movie has stuck with me over the years.
ETA: I see it's already been mentioned.

He's been solid since he's been in movies like Gangs of New York, The Aviator (showed some range there), The Departed, and what might be his best performance Blood Diamond. He's even been great in some roles before that. His movies are always very high quality and I always enjoy them. Inception was greatness. Wolf of Wall Street was fantastic. He just never misses. It should be his year. Make it happen Academy.

Yes I do. I think Nicholson was a close 2nd, and both of those happened to be two of the best performances of the year, just in the same movie.

Yeah, he and Depp are pretty great together in Gilbert Grape. Same with he and Sheen in the Departed. But the whole movie of Catch Me If You Can is predicated on his relationship with Hanks.
