Anyone think Charlie Strong would coach our LB's?

I obviously have no idea what he's looking for at the moment, HC, DC, etc. However, we got a spot at LB coach open and he would help us "assemble the greatest staff in the country". Surely Ed O is on the phones right.........

He's going to be coaching his wife not to blow all of his money while he plays golf

I highly doubt we could get Strong as a position coach. He's going to at least be a DC somewhere or a head coach at a mid tier school.

He doesn't get paid his buyout if he takes a job.
He'd settle for no less than defensive coordinator and it would ave to be highest paid in America for him to take that.

He'll do it for $10.7 million.

Notre Dame won't hire him, but I think he'd be a great fit there. Worked under Lou Holtz for a long time at ND and S Carolina
I could see him at Purdue as well.
Basically, I do think someone will offer him a head job. I think most of us saw Texas being similar to Rich Rod at Michigan- just didn't make a lot of sense.

Gotcha, thank you. I was unaware of his buyout situation.

Actually that is incorrect.
"Under a contract that was set to run through Jan. 23, 2019, Strong will be owed a buyout of about $11.2 million that would be paid out on a monthly basis through the end of the contract term. However, Strong is obligated to make reasonable efforts to obtain other employment. If he does, Texas’ obligation to him will be offset by an amount equal to 50% of the total compensation Strong receives from his new job."
According to USA Today, he is required to make effort to find a new job and the financial offset from the new job only counts 50% against his buyout. So if he makes $1 million, only $500k is offset from his buyout.

Purdue will never match that kind of money to bring him in. If he is smart, he should wait a year or two and see what happens when Pretrino leaves UL for a better gig....Jurich would hire him in a heartbeat to bring him back.

Don't worry. I'm sure O's binder had this all planned out. Alleva says we're getting 90% of those names so no worries. We will be fine.
Our entire football program hinges on a frickin trapper keeper. What the frick could go wrong, right?

If he coaches next year, and that is a big IF, I cannot see him taking a position below a coordinator.

People here are delusional.
There's no way he's going to agree to be the LB coach.

He's still above position coach at this point in his career. If we lose Aranda he's be an excellent choice for DC.

If you watched our LBs this year, you would not want whoever was coaching them to coach the LSU backers. Worst unit on the defense. Brian Jean-Mary was the LB coach and came from Louisville with Strong.
Run fits were terrible, took on blocks with the wrong shoulder (if taken on at all), etc. etc.
