Garrett, but Del Rio is a fair choice as well.

I mean, Belicheck is always a fair choice too

Adam Gase. Getting the Dolphins into the playoffs his first year has been impressive.

Del Rio.

But I've never understood coach of the year reasoning among voters.

Otherwise Pat Riley in the NBA would have won it 6 times. He won it once. Losing to Don Nelson while Riley was winning titles.
Same with Phil. So if you have Magic, Jordan, Brady, etc. Forget about coach of the year.

Belichick has actually won it 3 times. So he gets more love than his NBA counter-parts.

10-6 Lindy Infante won it over George Seifert 14-2 (most consider GOAT 1989 Niners - but Bill Walsh players.)

Jimmy Johnson won the award in 1990 at 7-9. (And he probably deserved it, given the mess he inherited and the genius trades.)

Criteria seems emotional (which is fine) but you can't predict anything with these awards based on team performance.

Award almost always goes to the coach of the team that exceeded expectations the most. It has nothing to do with the actual coaching. A bunch get fired shortly after.

Hard to pick anyone other than Garrett or Del Rio. Garrett is gonna be the #1 seed with rookies starting at QB and RB and not a single pro bowler on defense.

What Reid does with Alex Smith and that defense is spectacular.

In that order. All worthy choices though

Garrett deserves it the least of anyone mentioned in this thread not named Fisher.

He's the second coach EVER to secure a conference's #1 seed with a rookie QB, and the other was Bill Cowher who had a top-3 defense.

That just doesnt happen in the NFL
