I would gladly accept the league minimum to play in SD.

I'm a big fan of the San Diego bad hombres

Landon Donovan is one of the big names behind the San Diego bid. I could see an MLS team being successful there, but they'd have to attract fans from a passionate Tijuana fan base.
The whole David Beckham Miami expansion looks less likely by the month and it could put the league in an awkward spot, as technically it is part of the contract he signed with MLS. Miami barely supports the professional teams it already has. There's just too many other things to do in Miami than watch live sports. It's not a sports town.

I agree, because these aren't athletic clubs in the sense that they are in Europe where they have other sports tied to the club. They aren't two factions that "united" a century ago, and "Real" is Spanish for royal. This is America, Royal Salt Lake makes more sense because we speak English here. Kudos to the Timbers, sounders, dynamo, etc for sticking with American naming customs

San Diego Armada would be badass IMO

The sport is called soccer here though
The Kakamenga Homeboyz were established in 2010 and chose Homeboyz over Real Kakamenga or Kakamenga United. We need more Homeboyz

The technical term is still association football.
Soccer is just a nickname.

Its a franchise.

Supposedly it was a San Diego-based P.R. firm that came up with Baby Cakes. IF a New Orleanian actually suggested that when they were aggregating possible nicknames, it was someone that was contacted by the organization's management.
It was in the list from the very beginning, it was a done deal, no matter how the vote would have turned out, and I'm dubious about the vote. It's what the new organization wanted.

I'm aware I would need a side job, but it'd be worth it.

Seattle is still Seattle Sounders FC
Them and the timbers have been around for 30 years so those names have been there. No sticking to American customs bc it was always there.
Houston Dynamo sounds stupid and like a faux attempt to be European. Dynamo Houston with saying Dynamo like they do in Eastern Europe would sound bad arse.

i don't believe that it was a done deal from the beginning.
it was an internet vote. a ton of people voted for it because it was a stupid fricking name and they thought it was funny.
