NBC Figures Out How to Screw All of Us

As NBC moves into their fifth season holding America’s Premier League broadcast rights, their coverage will be changing a bit for the 2017-18 season. The network announced the introduction of the Premier League Pass for this season, a $49.99 over the top service that would allow fans to watch 130 live Premier League matches and other on demand programming.
There’s no way around this – if you’re a cable subscriber, you lose with the Premier League Pass, especially if you’re a fan of a club that wasn’t on TV all that much this season (sorry, Stoke City fans!). If you’re a Premier League fan that’s already cut the cord, you can pay your $50 for the Premier League Pass, but you won’t be getting every match – in fact, you might only have access to something like a quarter of your favorite club’s matches.

The cable industry sure knows how to ruin a good thing

It stinks, but I'm sure I'll plunk down the $50

I'm sure I will too.
I'm in the camp of people wanting to cut the cord/try a streaming service. I'm sure there are millions in the same boat.
Would be nice to have a full package option for Premier League, as that is one of the concerns I have.

Yea I will be getting the package also. It was fun while it lasted.

I've already cut the cord, and I'm not paying $50 to not even get to see Everton play every week.
Guess I'll be sticking to illegal streams this season.

Get ready to use some ace stream boys

I don't think I'll pay for it.

I just want to make sure I am following the article correctly. NBC will still show their normal allotment of games on NBCSN and NBC. There may even be some games on CNBC, but any games that were previously only available on the NBCSN App or on Alternate Channels like with Uverse will now just be available on this $50 package?
Also, I was thinking I would read the article and see that replays were available like in the past. Half the games I watch aren't live. So, that would be fine. But it looks like the article said there won't be any archived games on the free app.
I guess I fall in the "cable subscriber" group since I have NBCSN and NBCSN app access through PSVue. I know most Arsenal matches will be shown like normal, but it sucks not going into a weekend when they play Huddersfield and just assuming it will be DVRed for later or that I could watch the replay on the app. This is the first time NBC has done something negative with the EPL.

Don't try to spin this as that you're actually giving us more content. You know what we really tune in for. And that is the actual games.
I'm just pissed because I was about a month from cutting the cord, with my main reason being "I just watch soccer these days and I can just use the app for that"

That's what I got from it.
So if you're team is not on tv and you dont have the package... no game for you.

Hopefully they'll at least give us the option of buying through a cable provider, as watching it on the alternates is so much better.
But yeah, as to the "we're proud to offer more content" shite, I'd take this better if they just said "listen, we hooked you, and it was too good of a thing to not make more money off of, so pay us."

$50 for like 6 months of EPL action is like $8/month, and still cheaper than whatever bullshite cable package you have.
Stream + Pass=Win
It's not ideal, but the TV Deal costs money, and we as consumers should pay for it.
No big deal to me. I'll pay for it to watch Everton.

NBC is getting off cheap compared to other parts of the world how much they pay to show the EPL.

It's just a big hit to the cord cutters from what it sounds like.
As in, I still have to pay my $100 a month for cable to be able to watch all the games.

It's not really about the fact that we will have to pay money. It's the fact that they are passing it off as some awesome new service, and the fact that we have all been getting this service as part of our cable subscription is what makes it suck. If NBC came out when they got the rights and said, it's $50 a year and you get every single game. People would have jumped at it compared to the garbage Fox was giving us. Now it just feels like they are drug dealers that gave us a free sample to get us hooked.

Probably still better than the old days when FSC would show stoke-west brom or hull-birmingham every weekend then the big games weren't shown on replay til like Wednesday
