National Voter Registration Act at risk by States refusal to comply with the law

Let's assume that the feds force the issue and this ends up in court. I can only see 2 out comes.
1- Courts say that the law stands and states MUST turn over those records to the DOJ
2- or they strike down the law moving it to states rights.
The fall out of the decision to rule it unconstitutional would mean states would be allowed to require Voter IDs etc etc etc....
vs
Allowing the DOJ to find issues (should there be any).
I don't see another option.... do you?

I'll help you out, chief:
The actual law you apparently don't understand
The national voter registration act as linked above already designates almost all responsibility to the states and defines very specifically what information the states must make available and it's far less that what was requested.
So (1) the Feds won't/can't force the issue in the manner in which you are suggesting and (2) neither of the outcomes you suggest would occur
There is absolutely nothing in the Act which states the states have to furnish lists of voter roles to the federal government.

I'm so proud of the Mississippi SOS. Good stuff Dilbert.

Are you confused with the REAL ID Act?
Not sure how it being ruled unconstitutional turns to states being allowed to have IDs for voting though.

It's not always (or even usually) an either/or situation. Just look at the travel ban.

And Rocky is back up from his down goes Frazier episode last night. Sad.

Should the FBI arrest all their governors? Or should they arrest the SOS of Kansas, whose state won't fully comply, while he happens to be the Vice Chair of the commission?
Or do you think maybe it's possible the request had some legal and practical problems? Surely you can't be so confident in your stance when you thought it was only California?

Well, the only reason why I said to arrest the governor was because we were talking about California after repeatedly defying Federal Laws as they pertain to illegal immigration, ICE, etc.
Now, I woke up to finish the rest of the steak from earlier and to see if the Braves finished off that no hitter; I'm going back to bed while you Good Will Hunting this one for the next three days.
And don't call me Shirley.

Not a single word about illegal immigration or ICE or any other federal laws in the OP--just details about the refusal to comply with the election data relation. OOOO but look, you're the first person to respond, I'm sure you mentioned it in your post.
quote:Hmmm. Nope. Nothing about illegal immigration or ICE.
Send the FBI in and arrest the damn governor.
BUT of course, despite the lack of relevancy to the topic, and no mention whatsoever, you were obviously referring to illegal immigration.

Let's see if you can folllow logic and real world big boy stuff for once, Moon Moon.
The OP started a thread in which he states California refuses to comply with Trump's orders on his voting fraud commission.
I, knowing the history of California's governor and his refusal to follow Trump's policy on illegal immigration, ICE, federal law, etc since Trump's election respond "to send in the FBI and arrest him." Did you not know about California's refusal to follow any of Trump's policies?
Here's a short list if you need a reminder:
1) #notmypresident
2) #calexit
3) #resist
4) ICE
5) illegal immigration
6) voter ROLLS
Which, you know, is COMPLETELY relevant to the OP's claim of California refusal to act in this matter and my own knowledge that this is an ongoing problem in the state.
But here you are again, Moon Moon, trying to twist and spin logic for your apparent need for attention. So, here it is, Moon Moon.

OK. See you when you get back.
I was hoping not.

Evidently, I'm not the one who needs the help. Here YOU go CHIEF:

quote:
What agency is responsible for enforcement of the NVRA? The U.S. Department of Justice has enforcement responsibility under the NVRA. The Department undertakes activities designed to ensure compliance with the NVRA, including monitoring state compliance, conducting investigations and, filing litigation in federal court to enforce the NVRA’s requirements.
Not only that:
quote:
Are States required to keep records of their voter registration activities under the NVRA? Yes. Section 8 of the NVRA requires that States keep and make available for public inspection.... The Department of Justice can require that such records be produced for inspection and copying through a written demand, and a lawsuit to enforce such demand.
Any Questions CHIEF?

So they decided to self-identify as the places to focus his anti-voter fraud efforts. That was nice of them.

He's been wrong about most things. His defense of the polls is now a classic on the PT

Seems pretty clear and justice.gov seems like a legitimate source.

Electronic databases make all this posturing unnecessary really.
The Public Info of the voter rolls can be cross referenced within the FedGov system to cross check IRS, Social Security, VISA/GreenCard, location, insurances, credit info (which would include historial data on location and employment).
The power of cross referencing all the databases FedGov has with all they can access of private and public databases legally is extraordinary.
Just think about all the data on yourself you freely give up on a daily basis. And add to that what we already know about the databases FedGov actively monitors. (LEO's and lenders starting with just the info submitted by teens to find out if even eligible for a loan for school)
