Help me pick a Premier League team to cheer for.

I am getting back into soccer. Played my whole life but never really followed Premier League. Married with kids and now they are getting into soccer (u6) leagues. I bought FIFA 17 on clearance and got addicted last week.
My wife was out of town this weekend and I made plans with my boys to watch as much of the opening weekend as possible.
I watched this weekend Arsenal beat Leicester, Man U beat West Ham, Spurs beat Newcastle U, Man City beat Brighton, and Burnley beat Chelsea. I didn't watch Liverpool.
I have no idea who to become a fan of. On FIFA I play the journey as West Ham and was relegated to Newcastle U. I like both simply because of the game. I once tried to be a fan of Man City when Carlos Tevez was there, but that fandom never picked up much. I know Man U is good and Ronaldo use to play there. Arsenal match Friday was pretty damn entertaining, but the announcers kept bashing Arsenal saying stuff like they always disappoint.
WHO am I to cheer for? I need someone to keep my focus on or I may lose interest again.

Watch a shite ton of games, and you'll gravitate toward teams and players. Saturday mornings watching soccer early and then letting that bleed into football in the afternoon and evening are pretty awesome.
As a long time fan, I now enjoy games where I have no rooting interest. I despise giving a shite.

you'll fit right in with other city fans then.
i didn't really follow the league until nbc sports took over the coverage, and i believe that was the same year dempsey went to Tottenham. So naturally, not knowing much about the premier league, i latched on to one of the players i was familar with and made a point to watch their games. Started to become more familiar with the players, and really enjoyed it. I also liked that it wasn't a huge bandwagon team. They've had success, but they aren't United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, etc. So it felt like more of an underdog type team, but decent enough that it wasn't an act of futility pulling for them...though others here will argue otherwise.
I then had a chance to go to a match v. united at white hart lane over christmas a couple years ago, and had a great time.

This is true, but the play is always entertaining. Fortunately, I'm also an Aggie so I'm pretty much born and bred for massive letdowns and predictable humiliations. Saturday's can be real hit or miss this time of year.

Depends on what you're looking for...
If you want to cheer for a title contender right off the bat, go with Man City, Man United or Chelsea.
If you want to cheer for a club that isn't a perennially dominant force but will be among the best — and one where you'll have lots of fellow American fans to discuss it with — go with Liverpool, Arsenal or Tottenham.
If you want to pick a fun, exciting team on the rise, go with Everton or Southampton. If I was a new fan starting out right now, I'd be an Everton fan in a heartbeat.
Maybe you'll play FIFA and gravitate toward a midtable or even lower-table team that you like because of their players.
Like they said in here already, research a team's history and see which ones intrigue you the most. Play around with them on FIFA some. Most importantly, watch them on TV. Don't worry about the results as much as how much you like watching them play. There are some fun teams that will get their heads bashed in from time to time.
Please, though, once you pick a team — especially if it's a contender — stick to them. A select few of us here in the states have a real tie to a team. Most of the people on here were in your shoes at some point. Don't worry about being labeled a bandwagoner early, as long as you don't jump from team to team.
And, finally, welcome aboard.

Do you love Jesus? Do you hate dabbing frenchmen? Then Man City is the team for you.

Probably the best answer, but know that it can lead to pain and suffering, particularly if you find yourself as a Palace fan.

I'd follow one of these 3, if i had an EPL team.
Liverpool Klopp is entertaining as hell
West Ham
Newcastle Eventually they will find a real owner, and their loyal fans will finally be rewarded.

this doesn't even make sense.
keep watching games. you'll see players/coaches that you like and you'll eventually, organically, have your team.
or you could just pick united.
