Spain sacked head coach Julen Lopetegui after he was named the new Real Madrid boss - two days before their opening World Cup match against Portugal.
Real Madrid announced on Tuesday that Lopetegui would succeed Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu on a three-year-deal.
The Spanish football federation (RFEF) said it had dismissed the 51-year-old because the negotiation occurred "without any information to the RFEF".

I wonder what the odds are on Ovi showing up at the opening match tomorrow with the Stanley Cup?

Way to create a huge shitshow going into a World Cup when they were probably 4th best odds to win...

I was down on Spain, too old.

Wow. I understand why the federation is pissed, but I don’t think this is the right way to make a statement. This will pretty much frick Spain’s chances of making a run, in all likelihood. This punishes the players more than the coach.

Spain just can't get out of their own way.
You'd think Madrid and RFEF would at least be talking. It's not like Barcelona/Catalonia and Madrid talking. You'd expect issues then.

Wow...I mean...
That's just a bizarre reaction.
Guess I'm going to enjoy the Spanish melt.

Asensio, Carvajal, De Gea, Isco, Saul, Thiago, Koke, Alba, Rodrigo, Odriozola, Vasquez and Nacho are ancient.

Fernando Hierro will take over as manager. I like the decision. He's highly respected and with the talent they have they should still get to the knockouts.

I wonder what the chances are of a 2010 France style meltdown with the Spanish team, especially if they lose on Friday.
